PostPosted: Thu 14 Aug 2008 13:39 pm
Hello,

I just started my first paint collection today getting 8 Humbrol enamel paints for £8.  The colours I got were 30, 33, 34, 56, 64, 67, 70, 90.  These paints will paint my mossie and I tried to get 29 as well so I had paints for my mossie and my next build the spitfire, but they didnt have it!!!   :(

Hey Heggy,

Yes i thought that they were a good price as well and the extra 25p off actually makes quite a difference!  They had Tamiya paints as well for the same price of £1 each.

Can someone tell me what kind of a colour the Humbrol enamel 90 is??
Is it a reallly light green?

Thanks,

Tom

Yes, 90 really is a light green. That's the colour of "Sky Type S".

You really should get a 9th paint colour, which will come in very handy. It is Humbrol No. 116, and you should use it for RAF Dark Green, instead of Humbrol No. 30. It also is the right colour for USAF Dark Green in their South East Asia (Vietnam) 4 colour tactical camouflage.

Hey daniel7891,

I am in South East London near Bromley, Blackheath, Lewisham etc.  The shop I went to is out into Kent in a place called Sevenoaks.  From me its not that far and quite easy to get to but not sure about you as I dont know where Pimlico is.  The shop does sell the paints for a good price but its mainly just a toy shop so for 25p off I wouldnt bother unless your buying loads!  It does have a few models but hardly a decent stash but does have quite a bit of Warhammer stuff but unfortunately I'm not into that!

Thanks and hope I helped,

Tom

The Matchbox paints will be from the 1990s when Revell were using the Matchbox brand. They are relabelled Revell enamels, and are quite rare - it was hard enough to find a stockist of Revell paints in the UK at the time*, and I never saw any shop that had Matchbox paints.

*Revell ran an ad on the back cover of Scale Models listing all the UK stockists of their paint and a couple of months later Humbrol ran an ad saying something like "We'd like to list our stockists, but we'd have to use such small type no-one could read the list"
