I have been modeling on and off for the past 30 years. I build mostly 1/72 aircraft and 1/35 tanks. I also build Sci-fi and will build an occasional large scale aircraft. I have a large stash of older kits I acquired from my Uncle and Father - many are kits from the 1960's and 1970's. I like building those kits and adding aftermarket details and decals to make them look like modern kits. Of course I do build the latest kits as well...
I am new to this forum so I plan on adding just may latest builds and going forward.

Mirage 1/400 HMS Undine
This kit has been released by several Eastern European Manufacturers such as Mirage and AGA. This is the AGA version - the Mirage version actually comes with a small PE fret. Its an easy build with only a few parts. I did not follow the kit painting guide and used online references (The box top is correct - not the painting guide!). Painted with Tamiya paints and washes. The kit decals were unusable and included a kill flag (Undine never sunk anything) and a large name for the conning tower (never had it). I added a bracing line for the rudder, the aerials from fishing line and corrected some holes in the bow line.

Matchbox 1/72 Heinkel He-115 (PK-401)
This started out as a partially built/painted kit I got from my Dad. I sanded her down and rebuilt her adding a cockpit instrument panel and detailing the nose area which is fully visible under all the glass. That included bulkheads, a seat & an aiming platform to align the bombardier with the site below the nose. I also added fishing line antenna wire and ring sites to the MG's. The decals from the kit were unusable so I "borrowed" some from another He-115 in my stash. The decals represent an aircraft stationed in Norway for use against the arctic convoys and the aircraft is painted in a standard splinter scheme with additional arctic white splinter for winter camouflage.

Tamiya 1/35 Russian T-62A Tank (35108)
This is the Tamiya kit that dates back to 1979. It was a fairly simple build with some good detail. The fit on most parts was average and there was a lot of sanding needed on this kit. I painted the model using a non-standard camouflage to represent a tank in the online video game World of Tanks. Most soviet tanks were actually painted standard soviet armor green. I used the soviet stars provided in the kit and marked the tank as all the tanks in the game are marked - a single country insignia on the turret. The tank is painted with Tamiya paints, weathered with enamel washes and Mig Pigments.

Plastyk 1/72 PZL-37b Łoś (S-001) with TechMod Decals
This model has been around since the 1980's and has been re-boxed by several companies. This model has great internal detail, OK clear parts and terrible decals. Several parts such as the armament are over sized. The landing gear required a bit of work to reshape due to a lot of flash and poor molding. It does build into a nice model and the interior detail is visible through all the "glass". I solved the decal issue by using after market decals from TechMod (reviewed: http://airfixtributeforum.myfastforum.org/viewtopic.php?f=295&t=40751) which provides decals for 5 Polish aircraft, 3 Romanian and 1 German plane. The aircraft is marked as 12 Bomber Squadron, Malaszewicze, In action in September 1939.

Thanks for looking,

Great stuff!
All are great models, but for me the T-62 is just looking so mean. :thumb:

Thanks All! Here's another one just finished last night...

Esci\Ertl 1/35 MBT T-72 (E5019)
This was a partially built kit which I packed away several years ago and then pulled out recently to finish. Esci is well known for its 1/72 armor kits, but I somehow got a 1/35 kit in my stash. I don't even remember how I acquired it. The plastic was a bit soft and the link and length tracks were made out of vinyl so I had to use super glue to put it together - plastic glue would not work on the tracks. I used the kit decals and painted it as an East German Tank with Tamiya paints. Final weathering was done with AK Washes and Mig Pigments.

Outstanding builds in a class of its own. I'm seriously impressed by the splinter camo on the Heinkel. Great stuff! :clapping: :clapping: :clapping:

Thanks BissyBoat! I added some photos of the kit to the non-Airfix picture gallery.

Thanks! I have over 200 built models on my shelves. I decided to just add to the portfolio as I complete new builds. I have added some builds to the Gallery (Airfix and non-Airfix). I have two AirFix kits on the bench right now - an F-86 and a Mig-15. So you will be seeing some Airfix builds soon.

Encore Models 1/72 PZL P-24F/G (1015) - "What If" Polish Air Force Markings
This was a very rough kit which has been re-issued by several companies. The kit required a lot of cleanup as it had flash, large attachment points or poor molding throughout. I added a control panel and masking tape seat belts to the cockpit (although you can't really see it through the poor clear parts). The blobs provided for the MG's were replaced with Pencil lead. The aircraft is painted in a Polish "What If" markings as if Poland did not fall and the aircraft was deployed in 1940 to the Polish Air Force. Techmod decals for a Polish PZL p.7 were re-purposed to mark this aircraft. I used Testors paints throughout the project.
