I just couldn't resist...
I'll be building a 1/72 Beaufighter TFX, as shown here
The decals are nice and clear, but sadly out of register.
I made a start last night, just snipping the wings from the sprues and gluing them together. _________________ Cheers,

Complete dearth of updates in here, but I haven't been totally idle, honest.
The cockpit of this kit is completely bare - just a plastic cross-member on which to put the pilot and gunner. I decided to put in just a little detail to add some interest.
I found some pics on t'internet (which I now can't find again!) and based the details on that. The cockpit floor, box behind the pilot's seat, side panels and foot pedals are plastic card, the seat itself is taken from the Sunderland I'm failing to build for the Heavy Bomber GB, and the control stick is made from fusewire.
It's all ready to stick together now, so that will be the next step. Hopefully, once that's done, things should move along a bit more quickly. _________________ Cheers,

I stuck the fuselage together on Monday, then sanded it down last night. No filler required on the joins, although there were some steps to sand down.
I then stuck the wings on - some pretty big gaps to fill here. This photo also shows that I may as well not have bothered with the cockpit detailing - you can't see anything!

The Beau' is one of my favourite WW2 planes, it's a shame there are none flying in the UK. Your kit is coming together well though _________________ I'd rather push a Dodge than drive a Champ

All sanded and filled and the tailplane on.
The bottom has had three coats of Hu90, and the first coat of Hu79 has gone on the top.

Cast your mind back to the completely free and fair vote that took place last year for the lucky dip GB Ratch...

Following a discussion with peebeep about dodgy invasion stripe decals in this thread, I've decided to paint my stripes on. Couple of coats of white so far, which have covered quite nicely. It's still going to need one more though.
You can see that I've also put on the engine cowls and popped in the rear gunner.
I've decided that I'm going to have this one 'in flight', so I made sure that the Airfix stand I'll be using fits into the torpedo.

White stripe sections were masked off and the H90/H27 lower and upper colours repainted. I then painted on the second camo colour, H102, and removed the masking.
I think I might actually try the decals over the top of the white sections - should ensure nice even stripes and the white undercoat should prevent any problems with translucency. Watch this space for me posting about how I regretted using the decals and should have just masked off and painted the black _________________ Cheers,

Why not use the decals as a template for your painting them on? _________________ ATB

Could do, but I'm hoping that using the decals may be a bit quicker than masking and painting. I guess I shouldn't risk it - masking may be slower, but at least I know it will work! _________________ Cheers,

Okay, I'm being good - tonight I've masked up the Beau' so that I can paint the black stripes on.
Checked out the decals, and the roundels and codes are hideously out of register! I'm not sure I'm going to be able to use any of them Have to see what I can muster from various spares and after-market sheets. _________________ Cheers,

Here she is with stripes. Mine are a little further outboard than the kit decals, but everyone always says they were never painted exactly eh?
