Hi All

will be building a Westland Whirlwind (fighter) when I have finished the Harrier.

Since my qualifying date has now been put back again, I can crack on with the Whirlwind. I have always liked this machine, it seemed to always have a quiet air of 'hardness' about it. The fact that it had 4 bloomin' great cannons sticking out of the nose helped this effect somewhat. The kit itself is somewhat basic, but after all the messing with the Harrier, I am looking forward to it. I will be building the kit straight from the box this time, no carving or detailing involved.

A quick coat of cockpit green and we will begin....

Interesting that you think it has 'hardness' about it. I've always thought the opposite - that it looks such a delicate, gentle little thing!

Whatever, it's a beautiful aeroplane - looking forward to seeing you build it

Am rushing this a bit as I am away on holiday on Thursday, so am getting close to the deadline. The overall basic shape is now complete, with a bit of filler and sanding required due to not the greatest fir of parts. However, she is looking lovely and will shortly be receiving the first lick of paint.

Well, I'm back from holiday and decided to crack on with the Whirlwind. The light grey went on fine, but unfortunately the ocean grey displays unbelievable brush marks despite being thinned appropriately. This unfortunately means that I am going to have to strip the paint and spray the paint to get a decent finish. This might not sound particularly bad, but I am currently living in a rented flat until I buy a house later this year, so spraying is out of the question! I am sorry to let you all down, especially since you all are turning out spectacular models. I hope to redeem myself in the future (especially after I have bought a house!).

Ok guys, I have finally qualified at work which now frees up all my spare time, so I will attempt to redeem myself. As the Whirlwind has ground to a halt for the time being, I am going to build an SA Bulldog in the black and yellow RAF scheme. I know I don't have long left, so this may be a little rushed, but am looking forward to it.

I have painted the interior grey and assembled the fuselage, all ready for joining and filling any gaps.

I'm sure it will be a good build.
Love to see your result even if you finish after deadline.

When you finish your Whirlwind one day please post some pictures.
I don't know why but I just think the little thing is so mean to look at.

The best regards from Jesper.

Thanks Jesper, I will definitely post pics of the Whirlwind when I finally finish it. I am cracking on with the Bulldog, the fuselage, wings and tailplane are all attached and gaps filled, ready for painting. Am working this afternoon, so will now slap the paint on asap.

Right, the all-over black is now complete, just need to add the decals (and paint the canopy, wheels, prop etc......).

Ok guys, I admit defeat. I am not going to get this finished today without ruining it. It is now fully decalled, needing a coat of Klear to finish the general aircraft. I still need to complete painting the propellor, wheels and canopy, which I will have to do when I get back on Tues night. I should have it finished on Wednesday, with pics on here as soon as I can.

Right, I am finally done. Despite my best efforts (and a ton of weight in the nose) the d*mn Bulldog still wants to sit on it's tail (lazy swine). Still, I like the colour scheme and it goes well with my black Chipmunk (photo attached). It is a shame the Whirlwind went tilt, but when I resolve that, I will post pics of it on the site.
