So if I join up to the Airfix club next year will I recieve these?
Or can I join now and still get them?

I might take that course of action

I bought a 1/48 Corsair at Telford, I'll have to check but IIRC it has options for FAA, and Royal New Zealand Navy Air Force (? If there is such a thing). Would I be limited to the FAA option, or could the New Zealand one be built as well?

Also, what are the starting and finishing dates of this GB?

Good point.
Does the aircraft have to be in FAA colours or does that type of aircraft just need to have served with the FAA?

Thanks

From the Airfix website it looks like the 3 kit FAA offer runs from now, although you can request the previous 1/48 Spitfire if you wish. If you join now the kits and membership pack including catalogue will be sent in January.

And here is another list of the FAA aircraft.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_aircraft_of_the_Fleet_Air_Arm

As with everything wikipedia, I am not too sure how accurate it is, but it's a good start. I'll head downtown tomorrow to see if there is a Royal Navy Lynx available, and I am thinking of the Fulmar. One of the decal options in the box was stationed in Crete.

Ayup Owen...

Are you thinking of joining us Owen? if so, and you're very welcome, don't you think an Airfix 1/72nd will be the one to build?

The options are for FAA and RNZAF, HMS Victorious and Bougainville, Solomon Is. respectively Owen.

for the FAA version the wingtips needed clipping a few mm as per instructions.

don't want to commit to joining Feanor- though i would like to, partly to get the stash down a tad, but the other GB's are behind schedule.  will see what happens.

Have a Sea Fury and a Sea Harrier from the Falklands set i could do without resorting to spending cash on more kits.  possibly a conversion of the Hunter but that will involve too much work.

Chipmunk  Lynx  Sea King  Hurricane  Hawk and a couple of others could possibly come in to play- wouldn't mind including a helicopter into the GB-will have a better idea when the dates are resolved

Alleycat models produces a conversion set for a Hunter GA11 (as used by the RN for FRADU work). It's intended for the Revell F.6 but I don't see why it wouldn't work with the Airfix FGA.9 too.

I'm seriously considering this one - perhaps a Curtiss Helldiver, seeing as they don't do a Skua or Barracuda. Possibly a Sea Hurricane too...

After having a quick rummage it looks like I've got a choice of a Firefly, Seahawk, Buccaneer or a Lynx. I haven't built a helicopter for a while so might go with the Lynx.

Hi XN

the Hunter is one of my key subjects that i want to spend a bit of extra effort on.  for the FG9 the conversion would be to T8, possibly T8M.  there would be all the rescribing to do, and a resin conversion kit to contend with.

the GA11 conversion from a F6 is also on the cards at some point.

have found the hard way that for GB's a straight forward OOB is preferable for me. it would be nice to finish around the same year as everyone else- at a push within the same decade!

I could do with a bit of that approach myself...!

Will definitely sign up - I'm supposed to specialise in FAA after all. I think I'll go with the Helldiver, but will have a think.
