Is there a site, or does anyone have a list of sqadron codes for FAA NAS please. Also can i just confirm that the codes were in red with a white outline?

Cheers

Ayup HT...

The main RAF site used to have a list in the history section of Aircraft and codes. trouble is, the site's been re-vamped. have you GOOGLED the sqadron you want you can get them individually, usually.

Yep, ive looked on the net for sqaudron codes for 728 but cant find any, been searchign since this morning.  Not having much luck obtaining info on beaufighters with Hercules engines (mkx). Plenty for the merlin ones though (mk2). Might have to switch targets and go for a mossie.

I'll have a look in my 'Combat Codes' for you. It may even have an example of a Beau X listed.

I went down to the library this morning and found a book on "the squadrons of the fleet air arm" by ray sturtivant, so i will be flicking through that for a mk x beau.

Great, now just need to get a serial number of the beau. I will probably do the beau after the mossie, so it leaves me a bit of time to find one.

I would add to that 'Wings of the Navy' by the estimable Eric 'Winkle' Brown - lots of good photos, drawings (e.g. of instrument panels) and cutaways.

The Stuart Lloyd colours and markings book is indeed superb

I was so tempted to do a Naval Flying Standards Flight Hawk.  And having seen these photos at work today I wish I had!

I've got some more if anyone wants them
