I've had a rummage through the stash and have decided to have the Forward Command Post with two Airfix Buffalos and a Revell M19. I'll also utilise a Bren Carrier and two 6 pdrs (rennovations of a previous build)
Picture the scene; March 1945, close to the Rhine, preparations are being made for the crossing, one Buffalo has already been unloaded while the M19 is prepared for the unloading of another. The FCP has a couple of 6pdrs set up and a Highland Division Universal Carrier has been brought up in readiness for loading into a Buffalo for the crossing. British troops edgily mill about the scene... _________________ and was Jerusalem, builded here

I'm looking forward to this!
All the best
Sgt.S
PS -Just a thought, but you could exen consider a DUKW/6pdr portee.....IIRC the 6pdr gun just fits into the DUKWs load bed and I'm sure I've got piccies of such a combo somewhere. |

The sheet was cut with the bread-knife (don't tell SWMBO ) and stuck with PVA. This was then covered with plaster bandage and ground scatter materials liberally applied. I shall use a Wills sheet of York Stone Paving as the base for the building _________________ and was Jerusalem, builded here

I will mount the building on a sheet of Will York Stone Paving, and cement the walls before fixing them to the base. The walls were painted with Tamiya Buff to represent the mortar between the stones. I then used Winsor & Newton’s Artisan water mixable oil colour 076: Burnt Umber and 422: Naples Yellow Hue in a variety of ratios for the stones and plasterwork.
The oil paints are taking an age to dry and I will need to do more work on the walls
I added two propriety trees to the base. When thoroughly dry I brushed Winton oil colours 2: Burnt Sienna & 35: Burnt Umber over the exposed edges of the base.

I have acquired a few different ground scatters over the years (railway accessory type), these get mixed up so its not a straight from the bag colour This morning I also bought some Oregano, which I shall use for fallen leaves (very autumnal) it should also make it smell nice _________________ and was Jerusalem, builded here

On the box the parts are black and on the pieces them selves they have a binding at points, also they are bigger than tyres. So I thought they might be cable or something. I was going to ask you what they were?

I never thought of looking at the box lid
And I see what you mean about their size in comparison to the bicycle tyres
If they're black, maybe they're rolls of hose _________________ and was Jerusalem, builded here

I think you were right with the barbed wire coils!
I'm interested to see the two 'L' shaped sections of sandbagging.....IIRC these were part of the vacform base in the original release. I should be picking up my own FCPs next week, it will be interesting to see what's changed.
For what it's worth & all the best

I think they are meant to represent barbed wire coils too.
Andy, as far as I can remember one section of sandbags was formed as part of the vacform base and the other came as injection moulded parts, hollow at the back
Coming along very nicely Ratch by the way
Cheers
