That engine looks a lot more detailed than the Merlin out of the Spitifre 1a kit. Nice job so far.

Which propeller does the kit have  
The metal de Havilland three-blade variable-pitch or the wooden Rotol three-blade constant-speed type

If it has a small and pointed spinner, the former - if a larger, more rounded spinner, the latter

Whether I include him or not, the painting has been good practice, trying out different techniques to what I normally do

I used Tamiya XF-15: Flat Flesh for the basic skin tones then successive washes of Citadel GW: 61-21 Dwarf Flesh / GW: 61-18 Dark Flesh / GW: 61-79 Tanned Flesh / GW: 61-22 Bronzed Flesh / GW: 61-76 Flesh Wash, then Gw: 61-54 Skull White for the whites of the eyes and Gw: 61-75 Black Ink for eyebrows and very thinly applied for shading
