That's what I like to see - really constructive criticism! Any chance of explaining why you think they are "rubbish"?

Are they too difficult (or too easy) to make?
Are they over-priced? (even though you got one free)
Do they go together well?
Are the instructions easy enough to understand?
etc....

Or do you just not like that type of model?

Dave

Well I think Airfix thought that this would bring alot of younger modellers but it doesnt help by the prices ! 7.99 (on the website) for 12 figures ...

I've got to admit the Robogear don't seem to be selling too well. Why add wargaming to the Airfix range and why add a whole new wargame entirely similar to Warhama or something?
I haven't built one yet and wouldn't buy one through choice- not that I do wargames mind you! :?

I used to make Warhammer, and they cost a bomb - trust me, you don't want to know!

However, they were well moulded and inculded lots of detailed white metal. Does airfix's equivilant include white metal?

You wish! :D
You'll want Tamiya wargames for that...

Well, following Heggy's concise description of Robogear ( ), I decided to buy one myself!  So, yesterday lunch-time I bought Varan (Trade Protectorate) for £3.99 off ebay and it arrived this morning, less than eighteen hours later!

Image

The contents of the box were:

Image

There are three grey sprues, one black sprue and two springs for the working rocket launchers, a scorecard, three large (20ml?) pots of paint and a Humbrol "Senator" brush.  In addition there is an instruction leaflet for the assembly of the pilot, whilst the instructions for the vehicle are on the back of the box.

The kit is crisply moulded in a hard grey and black pastic with a little flash around a couple of small parts.  It is bigger than I thought with the vehicle being 80mm long approx 60mm wide and  I calculate that it is about 1/40 in scale.

Having now seen Robogear in the flesh so to speak, I am pleasantly surprised. As a kit in it's own right, it is very nice indeed. However, I think that the RRP of £6.99 may be a bit high for the younger modellers to whom the range is obviously aimed.

Of course I will have to build the thing now in order to make sure that the rockets work properly!

Well, I just put the kit together in order to do some serious "research" on the rockets and they fire very well!

Not sure if I want to paint it as it will prevent me playing, I mean "researching" with it.

I tell you what, the rockets come out so fast that I probably couldn't catch them on video! It really is a fun little kit. I might just buy another....

I think the figures were a waste of money, but that kit looks good. Wouldn't buy it though.

I haven't been able to play with it lately as I have been too busy painting it -

Just got to finish the rockets - trouble is they never stay still long enough to paint!

I told you you were addicted! Obviously a good bit of fun and an excape from detailed ship-building?

It was a good bit of fun and not as stressful as making Katy! I do really need to get back to ships though. HMS Abdiel is sitting on my desk awaiting photo-etch and I must get going on my HMS Hood. I've also got two scratch-builds that have been badly neglected.
