has died aged 77 after a brief illness. 50 years in radio broadcasting and other media. I'm surprised no-one else has posted about this. I wasn't a fan of his. I could only take him and his humour in very small doses, but I recognise he was a good entertainer and well liked by a lot of others.

Its not just how good your painting is, its how good the touch-ups are too.

In terms of National affection he was the male version of Cilla Black. Both very nice people whom the media were totally unable to stick anything on, because there was nothing for them to find no matter how hard they dug.

Would've done, but I've only managed to get online again this evening.

Another one gone who seems to have been there throughout my life. I only watched Eurovision for his merciless commentary.

A sad loss and definitely one of the Gentlemen broadcasters. I wish it could have been his replacement instead :Whistling:

Whilst you may not like Chris Evans (I don't either), it seems a little unpleasant to wish him dead, don't you think?

A fair and correct point and I withdraw the second part of my comment.

A real gent and thoroughly nice all round bloke, he did a lot for charity, I always remember him on the radio and his great wit.
