Come 1st June, we'll have no military aircraft GBs running, so it's about time to start a poll to see what we'll do next.

We've had a few ideas suggested, so pick which one you like the look of. I'll run this poll for 7 days, then we can go onto the next stage.

Here's some more details:

50s/60s US Jets (suggested by rafalbert/Paula & Dan)
Any US jet in the Airfix range which was designed or flew in the 50s/60s. I've incorporated the Century series idea in with this one.

Dogfight Doubles (suggested by Rich)
We pick a pair of adversaries (e.g. Spitfire/Me109, Zero/Hellcat, Harrier/Etendard), then everyone builds one or the other (or even both!)

Sea/floatplanes (suggested by Airfixteen)
Any sea- or float-plane from the Airfix range. There is quite an extensive list of these on this page.

Series 3/4 lucky dip (suggested by farmroad38)
Everyone who wants to take part sends me a list of 3 aircraft from series 3/4 that they would like to build. I then collate the results, and whichever gets the most votes is the one we all build.

For the Dogfight Doubles & Lucky Dip builds, the next stage would be to select what we're going to build, whilst for the other two you would be able to build whatever you liked that fitted the build criteria.

And bear in mind that whoever suggested the build gets to be GB leader, just in case you wanted to vote to stitch someone up

I don't have any Airfix US 50's/60's Jets, so that's out for me

I could take two from my VJ-Day set

I'm building 04001 Wellington & two 04039 Harriers, so that only leaves three options in my stash (Ade already has my list)

But I voted for the floatplanes

I fancy trying a mini-dio/vignette sort of thing, with one taking off (or landing) on water

Just to make clear - if you chose lucky dip, you could vote for any series 3/4 kit, regardless of whether it's in the current catalogue. Of course, if you vote for something obscure the chances of it being the winner are smaller...

Blimey, decisions decisions! Does anbody have a list of the series 3/4 aircraft which would be eligible?

The dogfight doubles (which I had forgotten I suggested) is a good opportunity to pair up some combinations which haven't appeared before.
e.g. SHAR/Pucara

On the other hand I do have a F-86 Sabre which looks a nice little build.

Should be able to work out the list of series 3/4 kits from the history section - if I get the chance, I'll compile a list tonight.

An embarresment of riches for the 3/4 lucky dip, there really is a huge number of potential candidates there. Maybe we should restrict it to WW2 twin engine aircraft to avoid confusion

I've updated the choices to include flying boats.

Can I just make something clear - we're only voting on what the theme of the next build should be, so for those who vote for the dogfight double or lucky dip, you don't need to let me know what your choices would be just yet.

Looking at previous GBs the take up is in the tens rather than hundreds, nothing wrong with that.

If each proposed subject has a few interested parties is there any reason why there shouldn't be several GB subjects with each attracting just a few contributors each?

I am new to the forum so may be talking out of turn but for me the attraction of being here is enjoying and benefiting from having a few people taking a close interest in the projects of others and making a contribution rather than have a mass of 'awesome!!!' comments that other sites seem to attract.

If the problem is a shortage of GB leaders I'm happy to join in. I voted for US Jets, simply because I haven't built one before (and have a bottle of special foil glue that needs a home).

Thanks for the suggestion Colin. I think it's better that we have a single subject for the Group Build - the purpose is, after all, for there to be a shared build where we all help each other out, so if there were too many different subjects then that would be more difficult.

Only a couple of days to go, and so far the Lucky Dip build is in the lead. Come on chaps - you don't want me leading another build do you? You know I'm not up to it
