With one day to go, here are some pictures;

First, the box..

the instructions..

and the sprues and decal sheet.

The dreaded brown backing paper strikes again.

The cab is in the bottom right corner. Should be fun masking it up!

I started on Sunday by assembling the tank and pump equipment. Then I painted the chassis, drivetrain and tyres.

Since then I've painted the interior of the cab, primed the other body parts and assembled the chassis. This was the state of play last night.

So far everything's going smoothly apart from one small part which fell victim to the carpet monster.

I've painted the main components green and will be painting the rest of the black camouflage on tonight.

I'm hoping it'll be finished by the end of the week.

(How many times have I said that before?)

Had a bit of a problem last night. I was fitting the tank to the chassis when the tank slipped from my hand and fell to the ground, catching the edge of the coffee table on the way down and sending the ladder pinging into the gaping maw of the carpet monster. As it isn't a particularly small part you'd think it wouldn't be too hard to find but after 15 minutes on hands and knees I still hadn't found it.
Apart from that I 've got the camo on and done some detail painting. I'll post some pics soon and hopefully the ladder will turn up in the meantime.

I haven't found the ladder yet so I may have to make one from plastic strip. After giving the bumpers and tank a cuple of coats of Klear I've applied the decals, which went on surprisingly well considering they were on the dreaded brown backing paper.

All that's left to do now is add the extinguishers, give it a coat of Matt Cote, make a replacement ladder and possibly some door mirrors.

Certainly looks good. Did you use really hot water to get the decals off the brown backing paper? I did and it seems to work well. As for the door mirrors, I suggest using staples for the frames and a bit of plasticard for the mirrors.

The water was hot but it still took a while to get them off the backing paper.

Looks good, camouflage not over-done, try and stick some mirrors on ... it will finnish the vehicle off.
Mirrors as in my topic TimJ

Almost finished now. I've made a replacement ladder from the boarding ladder of a Hasegawa Jaguar GR1. Not quite right but close enough.

All I need to do now is make some door mirrors and maybe some indicators as in MacTeagle's build.

Tim,

That looks great. good work on the camouflage. I used ID tabs from my 1/24 Spitfire sprue for the mirrors, they were very nearly the perfect size and shape, just sanded off the numbers and shortened them to be just a little smaller than the side windows.

The indicators took a little patience to sand down to the right shape. I used a little nail file. I dropped one of them onto the carpet three times  . I found it each time which was nothing short of miraculous!

Good job on that new ladder by the way.

Finished at last. It took some time to get round to adding the mirrors and indicators but they do add a bit of extra realism to the model. An enjoyable build and thanks to Lincolnlanc and MacTeagle for the tips.

I'll try and get some better photos as except for the last one they're a bit blurry.
