When I resd 'General Lee' on the instructions I was tempted to do it in orange with 01 on the side and a confederate flag on top, Yeee-hah!
Then I decided to do an olive drab one instead. _________________ So many kits, so little time |

You could almost certainly still use a Confederate Flag somewhere on the model.....It would look very cool indeed!
Just a thought & all the best

I started work last night but first box, sprues and instructions...
So far I've assembled most of the hull.
There are some gaps to be filled but nothing too serious so far. _________________ So many kits, so little time |

Good start Tim, nice to see another one underway. Your kit seems to be from the same batch as mine with that gap near the transmission housing at the front. I wonder if the mould is damaged or perhaps just needs cleaning up a bit
It is also interesting to see that you have the leaning out starboard side, I was a bit alarmed when I put mine together but it does pull back into place once you have the lid on.
Cheers

I thought the same thing when I was putting it together.
I painted the wheels and suspension units last night and drilled out the end of the gun. More pics soon.

Since last time I've assembled the suspension units and completed the hull.
Some of the wheels were a bit of a tight fit and one of the axles broke but I managed to save it.
The hull needs a bit of filler but overall it's not too bad. _________________ So many kits, so little time |

Lovely work Tim. I hope I can convince my hull to come out as well as yours. Just dry-fitting mine right now and anticipating problems.
Not to be too personal but, what size drill did you use for the gun? I'm trying to figure out how wide a mouth to make.
Good luck with your project. |

James, I used a 0.8mm drill for the gun. It only works out at a scale 60mm but I thought it best not to go too large in case I ruined it. By the way, it's good to see someone builing a Grant, best of luck with your turret. _________________ So many kits, so little time |

More progress to report. After filling and rubbing down I've fitted most of the running gear and given it a couple of coats of Hu66.
With luck it should be finished soon. Now, where did I put those instructions? _________________ So many kits, so little time |

Good looking Lee you have there Tim! The dark matt paint job certainly makes it look business-like and menacing.
What is you plan for the treads?
Good luck with your project. |

Thanks for the comments, guys. You'll be pleased to hear the instructions turned up in the middle of a pile of magazines.
James, the tracks look as if they might be a tight fit so I'll have to be careful when I'm fitting them.
Ratch, the rivets are still there but don't show up well in the photos. _________________ So many kits, so little time

I'll admit they are hard to spot but they are still there. I have to say it makes a change to have a kit where you need to leave the rivets on! _________________ So many kits, so little time |

I've given it a coat of Gloss Cote and applied the decals. I had trouble with the numbers curling up and had to replace parts of them with numbers off a Modeldecal sheet.
All I have to do now is add the headlights, exhausts and machine gun, do some detail painting and put the tracks on. Hopefully it should be finished by the end of the week and I'll be able to post some pics of the finished article. (Hopefully in focus ) _________________ So many kits, so little time |

Ta-Dah!!!
My first Group build completed. The tracks aren't the best fit but I didn't want to pull them too tight in case they snapped the wheels off.
You can see the rivets on this pic, Ratch.
I have to say I've enjoyed building this kit although if it hadn't been for the GB I probably wouldn't have bought it as I don't usually build tanks. _________________ So many kits, so little time |

Super work Tim
Its a shame that the tracks detract from what is otherwise a nice kit - I had exactly the same problem with them
Good result all the same _________________ and was Jerusalem, builded here
