Was there an official colour for Army uniforms :?: I have several references but none name the colour and they all look different - from a pale grey to a darker blueish grey and an even more blue-grey as well as various sandy shades for desert uniforms :help:

I looked this one up with an eye to painting the airfix WWII Italians.
The Basic (official) colour, apart from specialist ones, ie; desert colours, was Grey-green but that came in a wide range of variants (darker to lighter ) mainly due to the Italian Producers during WWII using recycled wools and thier dyes weren´t always the best Quality.
This painting guide..
http://www.flamesofwar.com/Default.aspx ... art_id=413
...gives a decent rough guide to the variants (fatigue, Tropical etc)

Thanks Paul, interesting they call it grey-green as (to my eye) it looks to have a blue in it  I'm not sure which Vallejo paints the FWP numbers refer to

Sorry..the link was to Show the Basic colours of the uniforms, not what colours, Humbrol or whatever.
The colours ( Vallejo) from the Warlord Games Italian Army Paint Set (Europe/Russian Front)
Uniform and side cap: Vallejo 866 Grey-Green
Webbing and backpack: Vallejo 843 - Cork Brown
Puttees and Shirt: Vallejo 992 - Neutral Grey
Water bottle and patches on camo roll: Vallejo 866 Grey Green
Blanket roll: Vallejo 988 - Khaki
Camo Roll: Vallejo 882 (Middlestone) and 908 (Carmine Red)

Oh..and Warlord Games have free painting guides as digital Downloads..you neen to have an account with them though
