The new Cold War building at the RAF Museum, Cosford.  Pretty spectacular bit of architecture!

A couple of shots from our house. The first is looking down into our village (hamlet, really), called Larmont, over the new house being built in front of ours and the second is from the back looking up into the fields. These were taken a looong time ago, in January of last year.

I can see a church. That defines it as a village. A hamlet is a village without a church. (Not a lot of people know that  -actually not a lot of people are that interested - but it's a fact)

We didn't get to swim with any turtles, but we did see a few reef sharks

Ah but it were so simple! Y'see, the official name of the place, the name that appears on the name board as you enter the "village" is "Hameau de Larmont" which, literally translated, means "Hamlet of Larmont". So it is a Hamlet in name if not in function...

Nowt's ever simple in France!

I took a trip out today as a bit of stress relief from moving and exams and went to Sherringham Park on the N.Norfolk coast.

The last of the Rhododendrons were out. I came a couple of weeks ago when they were in full bloom but forgot the camera. Many have now faded, but there were a few still in bloom.

Sherringham Park is near the North Norfolk Railway - "Twixt Sea and Pine" as the motto goes. Through a gap in the trees, an Ex-War Department 2-10-0 Trundles along to Sherringham:

At the beginning of July, I was at the London City Fun Day as an exhibitor, and although I spent most of the day handing out posters, I did see some of the flying display.

Amongst others, were this Yak 3.
Image

The highlight of the show had to be the DC-6, and I'll try and get a pic or two of it posted soon.

And on Saturday the Tour de France arrived in Toulouse.  Dan and I found a spot about 14km north of the end of the stage to watch it from in the pouring rain!
Image

As yet I can't identify any of the riders in this picture, but give me some time and I'll see what I can do!

Paula

Had three splendid nights at Burgh Island just off of the south Devon coast. The Hotel is 1930s themed with original furniture and fittings throughout. Had to don the black tie and DJ each evening for dinner, all very civilised.

Here is the hotel seen from the main land with the tide out

Image

And the Pilchard Inn, which sits just in front of the hotel

The Pilchard Inn viewed from our balcony

Front and rear views of the hotel

And the all important hotel bar, venue for many a pre dinner snifter

And just to prove that I did do something other than saunter between the bar and the inn, here is one of those rugged nature shots.

Cheers

Stu

A marvellous place to celebrate a special occasion  :D

I had been trying to remember which film it had featured in other than an episode of Poirot

Have not actually been yet but hoping to visit on Saturday - Paula and I are driving up from Toulouse to the UK and are aiming to spend a bit of time, if we can, at the Batterie Todt nearby to Calais where they have a Krupp K5 283mm railgun. It seems the have alot of other stuff here, too....

The French part says it's closed in December and January but the English bit says it's open at weekends in December and January - as it's owned by a Mr Davies, I hope the English bit is the right one!

Fingers crossed and we'll let you know how we get on....

Dan
