Voted. Never build a ship before and I would like to do that this year.

There were others?
I've been off the grid for a while and may have missed this one! :fear:

The subject was what Heinkel51 PMed me about. I thought it was a good subject since its a broad subject and would attract more people to the GB.

There were a number of proposals :arrow:
Heinkel51 wrote:
Looking to 2016 should we have a single subject GB?

I'll make a start with three suggestions;
1/600th HMS Belfast A04212
1/600th KMS Prinz Eugen A05203
1/600th RMS Mauretania A04207

Train Driver wrote:
How about adding the 1/600 Queen Elizabeth to that list?
Many may be sitting on one or both of the liners, after the pre - Christmas sale.

fred wrote:
For a theme build; Pre-WW2 ships.
Those that were in service before 1939 [but after 1900]
Reason; this year is the 100th Anni of the Battle of Jutland. As there are no ships from that battle in the range [except HMS Iron Duke] then the next best is pre-1939.

Models;
HMS Iron Duke
HMS Hood
HMS Campbeltown
HMS Ark Royal
HMS Suffolk
HMS Ajax
HMS Cossack
HMS Hotspur
HMS Nelson
HMS Repulse
HMS Warspite
HMS Montgomery
HNoMS St. Albans

Maybe
HMS Belfast

KM Graf Spee
KM Scharnhorst

or to include civies;
RMS Titanic
RMS Mauretania

2016 is also the 75th anniversary of the sinking of HMS Repulse and HMS Prince of Wales.

Mea Culpa
Would appear I became a little eager to get a ships GB on the board.
Yes the discussion was originally for a single ship GB, my interpretation of responses was that there was more discussion (interest) about themes hence the path taken.
Apologies for not getting on the forum earlier - having a few issues with internet access (rain soaked laptop). Given responses so far to the current poll perhaps we should just call this a dead rubber and have a poll for a single ship GB or hold the the Royal Navy GB over to the second half of the year. What is the procedure to come up with a list of potential candidates? Some options have been mentioned earlier, looking at the current catalogue we have in addition to all previously mentioned;

A50049, A09252 HMS Victory 1:180
A06201 RMS Queen Elizabeth 1:600
A04207 RMS Mauretania 1:600
A55104 HMS Victory Starter Set
A05281 Air Sea Rescue Launch 1:72
A50044 Wasa 1:144
A50132,A12203 HMS daring Type 45 1:350
A55103 Cutty Sark
A04204 Bismarck 1:600
A50069, A04212 HMS Belfast 1:600
A07280 Severn Class Lifeboat 1:72
A50045 Cutty Sark 1:130
A50164 RMS Titanic 1:700
A03203 HMS Suffolk 1:600
A06206 HMS Repulse 1:600
A50046 Golden Hind 1:72
A50059 HMS Illustrious 1:350

Hope not to have caused more confusion...........

OK, I'm going to set the wheels in motion for a World War 2 Royal Navy GB! As Heinkel51 suggested this, I'm volunteering his to be the GB leader. :-)

Thank you :pirate: .

The original proposal was;
Any Airfix kit of a Royal Navy ship that served in World in War 2. I know it is a theme build not a single ship, but broadening the scope may see more participants. But not to make it too broad I'm thinking that we should exclude the MTB, ASR Launch and also the LCM and LCVP ?

I'll add that the proposal should have said Any Airfix kit, any scale, of a Royal Navy ship.........

1.1200
HMS Ark Royal
HMS Hood
HMS Suffolk
Tribal Class Destroyers

1.600
HMS Ajax
HMS Ark Royal
HMS Belfast
HMS Campbeltown
HMS Cossack
HMS Hood
HMS Hotspur
HMS Iron Duke - suitably converted
HMS King George V
HMS Manxman
HMS Nelson
HMS Repulse
HMS Suffolk
HMS Tiger ? Subject for conversion
HMS Warspite
HMS Victorious

1.400
HMS Hood
HMS King George V
HMS Montgomery
HMS St Albans
U-Boat Type VIIC

Will talk to the guru as to next steps. :boat:

Where does HMS Victorious fit in? Although the Airfix kit has her in a post-war configuration, she served in World War 2!
