There's the v old Hasegawa one in the odd scale of 1/450 which was also boxed by Frog. You might not find it easy to track down.

Plug Vanguard into your browser page search after waiting for the link below to load:

Hap Dong - never heard of them and the review is worse than the Frog/Hasegawa offering!

And then there's the resin kits...

Yep, there´s the resin kits.

If you still can get one, Samek´s 1:700 Vanguard is an excellent kit. The onyl drawback I found is that the PE is very soft and hard to work with. I have built the kit with the review available at

The Hasegawa/Frog offerring is a bit basic the one I have came complete with electric motor and oversize propellor to use in the bath or pool. Recently Mad Pete Hall of White Ensign Models fame as produced a large P/E set to tart the kit up. Apart from a lack of any significant detail on the model the worst feature is the forecastle deck break it is a shocker instead of the graceful shear the vessel should have it is a sharp angled kink whichis just about impossible to conceal. If anybody wants some pics of these beast let me know and I will try to work out  how to post them on the site.
