Unfortunately, there is no space to store pictures on this forum. You will need to get some free server space (your isp will have given you some) and link to the photos that way.   Your pictures will still be able be displayed in your posts.  Just click on the "Img" button, then type your picture URL (address) and click the "Img*" button.  You picture will then appear when you preview or submit your post. Alternatively, paste your link into your post, select that link and click the  "Img" button once.

Sadly, the Airfix Gallery pictures have .aspx links and these do not work!  You will have to link to them using the URL tags instead.

If your ISP does not have any server space for you, use a picture hosting service such as PictureTrail (http://www.picturetrail.com/),  PhotoBucket (http://photobucket.com/) or Imageshack (http://imageshack.us/) for your pictures.

When displaying your pictures, please do not put too many large pictures in one post/thread as a lot of people are still on dial-up. Keep the width to 800 pixels or less.  If you do have a lot of pictures, either just post the links, use thumbnails or preferably sub-divide your post into manageable sizes of 10-15 images. When quoting somebody else's post, only quote that part of the post that is relevant and change any images to links instead. This not only helps those members on slow connections, but is standard netiquette - the conventions that should be followed on Usenet, mailing lists, live chat, and Internet forums.

Please read the Rules for Using this Site thread concerning the posting of copyrighted material.

I have set up picture gallery forum so that members can post pictures of their builds. Just go to the appropriate gallery forum, create a post and insert links to your pictures.

HTML has now been enabled, this means that we can re-size photos to a more friendly size and add a hyperlink to the full size image. Remember, you must set "Always allow HTML" to "Yes" in your profile. , As you can see in these pictures of HMS Gloucester that I took last year. The code for the first picture can be seen in the next post.

It also means that you can now display your Airfix gallery pictures (.aspx files) in your posts too. You can also shrink the size of links to a more manageable size. To go to the Airfix.com site you can now say, go here

I have tried various ways to cut and paste pictures as we did on the old forum but it just does not work. I will keep investigating though.

Here is the code to display the first picture as seen in the previous post. Remember, you must set "Always allow HTML" to "Yes" in your profile to see pictures. I have deliberately disabled it in this post so that you can see the code.

To display an image without a hyperlink, just use:

Just to help people when re-sizing large pictures into a screen-fitable size, you should use this small bit of code:

I also resize my pics in Paint Shop Pro 7 to w533 h711 and that seems to give a good pic on the page thats not to big but still able to see the detail on the model.

Dave,

I've noticed you or one of the other Moderators have edited some of my more recent posts where I have linked to a picture directly from another site replacing the image with the image's URL.....Sorry if I have caused you any inconvenience.

For future reference is it acceptable to link an Image direct with a suitable disclaimer (For discussion purposes only etc.) as I have done in some of my very earliest posts (Which remain un-edited). Of course where possible I would give credit to the copyright owner in such an instance as I have generally also done previously.

Just wanted to clarify the position.....After all at a 1000 words a pop they save on some keyboard wear!

All the very best as always

Hi Andy,

Sorry, but it is not possible to put a disclaimer as you have done. Believe me, the forum hosts are extremely strict on copyright and a disclaimer is not good enough. They suspend forum for even the most minor of "offences" and I won't risk ATF going through that. On my own web site, I wouldn't have any problems doing as you say, especially as the posting of images would be information only and not for commercial gain. But, as I said, on the ATF is it a no, no.

If you have made posts earlier on containing images that have not been changed to links, then that would have been because they have been missed. Not surprising considering the large number of posts. They will need to be changed and is something I can do in due course.

That's okay. I went through all 234 of your posts today and I think they have all been sorted out - and the multiple renaming of titles! BTW, watch your language! I've just edited your post above to remove the asterisked naughty word! We're getting you trained........ slowly!

I hope I'm not being too obtuse (again ) but I'm unsure where we stand about posting images of box tops?

I had posted a picture of the Trumpeter M4A3 box in my Demo-Build but I am uncertain where we would stand on this.

TIA & All the best

I thought it might be along those lines so I edited it to a link.

From the forum rules "You can photograph a box and it's contents solely for the purposes of a Group Build or Kit Review though. ". That can extend to other purposes such as a demo build too.

So I'm in the clear to use my own (very poor) photo of my own kit box as part of a demo-build of that kit. That also works for me!

Thanks for clearing this up guys....I'll change it back to a piccy!
