I found this web site http://www.spitfires.ukf.net/ which gives a complete listing of every Spitfire ever built. A brief history of each Spitfire is given, very similar to that in Morgan and Shacklady's Spitfire: The History book.

I would recommend downloading the list to your hard drive. You never know how long these types of sites last!
