When typing your posts, please give a little consideration to those of a bygone age and those whose first language is not English    Whilst it may be easy to type without using capital letters or punctuation, this practice often makes posts either difficult to read or worse still, that they may be misconstrued

Also, please do not type in upper case    this is akin to SHOUTING

I won't be marking posts for spelling or grammar, but I may delete those posts I deem to be illegible

Ayup all,
Stand by your beds and take note Big Brother Ratch (and believe me he is BIG) is watching your posts ( probably MI5 as well). You have been warned- careless typing causes misconstruings and upper case is too LOUD! Get a silenced typewriter- standard issue to all here at MI5.

Well done Ratch, they are pet peeves of mine, although I've been too polite to mention it before. You all know what a quiet, shy and retiring person I am dontcha?  Heavy Metal

Talking about posts being made difficult to read ... to me the inclusion of unnecessary smilies in the middle of sentences is a worse offender than lapses in punctuation and spelling (of which there are too many to keep track of).

No offence meant ...

I like smilies... but I do see your point. They can disrupt the flow of the text. I do think poor capitalization, grammar and spelling are worse, though.

Having said that, not everybody is a natural at English - not even some of the natives!

Ayup All...

I use 'Capitalisation' to EMPHASISE words because it's too awkward to use Italics... and i try to keep smilies to the end of a paragraph or sentence.
