Airfix Cutty Sark

Afternoon,
As you may have read from my other thread regarding a small bi-plane that needed identifying that was acquired from my late grandfather, this is the same.

It's an old Airfix Cutty Sark model kit that I've had for quite some time. My grandfather had it before me as it was his, yet to built. It's still boxed, with instructions and as far as I'm aware all the parts are there (inc Rigging). It seems a bit of an indepth build from looking at the instructions.

What i dont know, is the date. (not of the ship - of the kit) I can't find any manufacturer/release date on the box / instructions. Anyone know its date of birth? Not sure what i want to do with it just quite yet. Anyone built this model? Looks tricky.

There's some pictures attached.. It looks a bit old.

Cheers, Rhys

From our History section...

Cutty Sark 903/09253-9/09253
1/130 scale. Available from 1967 to 1984. Reissued from 1987. Also issued by Plasty (Germany) as kit series 1640 number 79 (1960s) and by MPC (USA) as kit number 2-1400 (date uncertain).

I built this last year soon after the fire.

See this thread,

It's a pretty good kit to build.

Cheers!

That particular box is a "Type 5", and the copyright date of 1976 gives its age away. That boxing didn't last all that long, probably until 1978 or 1979.
