Charity Fundraiser - March 2008 (was Feb)

Just a quick note to say that the next fundraiser will be taking place during the first week of February 2008.  It will be in the form of a very simple one-question competition (such as what is this forum called) and you can enter as many times as you like.  Your answers, if correct, will then be entered into the draw.  It works in the same way as a raffle, basically, but having the question means it is a game of skill and we fulfil the legal requirements.

In addition to the prizes already pledged, more are on the way, including a rather stunning prize that will be announced in the next few days.  It is so nice in fact, that I would like it for myself and not put it into the draw!  Hopefully, the competition will be launched in the second week of December, so giving you all plenty of time to get your entries in before the draw.

Dave can you explain how this works?

I understand the question bit but I assume there is a charge to enter? If so how is this collected?

I also have a few kits to donate, shall I just add them to the list?
davecov

Hi Paul,

Say you know the answer, the fee is £1 a go, and you want to submit the same answer 10 times. Just send a payment for £10 with the answers to me (they can be all the same answer or 10 different ones)and your correct entries will be entered in the draw. You can pay by PayPal, bank transfer, cheque or postal order with PayPal being the only option for overseas members. There will be full details on the ATF web site and the forum nearer the time.

Yes, please add your kits to the list and thank you very much!

...unless presumably we furriners can provide you with a cheque drawn on a U.K. bank?

Don't worry, any overseas person can pay by UK cheque or postal order too! I was trying to keep it simple and not to fill this thread with a lot of guff that will be repeated when announced properly - hence the "Just a quick note" at the start of the thread. This thread is just to get the ball rolling and generate some interest - and for me to tease you about that prize!

Ratch

So it's effectively a prize draw this time
davecov

Yes, in the same way as we did the raffle last year, but this time every "ticket" has to be accompanied by the answer, so fulfilling the "skill" element required by law. And only correct answers go into the draw, but I can't envisaging anybody getting the question wrong!

Another quick note, this time to inform you all that for personal reasons I have had to delay the Charity Fundraiser planned for the first week of February 2008. Instead, the draw will take place during the last week of April with "tickets" going on sale for the eight weeks prior to the draw.  Full details of how to take part will be published in the first week of March.

It might be a good idea to let our overseas forum users know that a lot of countries around the world sell Postal Orders in Sterling (£'s)  a list can be found  :  HERE

Go to the bottom of the page and read the note.
