Crew figures for the RNLI Lifeboat

Did anyone ever identify a source of suitable crew figures?

Does anyone know whereabouts around the boat the crew would be found when it is at sea?

As the Jolly Boys would confirm, if I was one of the crew I would be hanging over the stern saying good-by to my lunch.

The Rescue Launch is of a generally similar craft... so if you transplant the armament, you may use the figures. The guns come in handy against any foreign trawler fishing in the EEC

I don't think there are any figures which are suitable without modification of the helmets and uniform.

As for position on the boat, that would depend on the situation. Fine weather cruising I would imagine most of the crew would be on the flying bridge keeping an eye out. Bad weather probably battened down in the cabin area. Actually on the rescue, depends what it is, pulling someone out of the water, probably crew on the rails forward and aft with ropes etc.

Ayup Beau...

What about any JET pilot, without an oxygen mask, wearing a lifesaver and a crash hat ?

Just a thought...

I guess Milliput is the answer - I've a feeling lifeboatmen wear sort of orange pyjamas and a lifejacket.

In a way the crew location is the more important consideration. What I have in mind is to build a lifeboat on a diorama base depicting a hundred-year-wave. Something like this in effect.

Actually, that is oversize compared to what you see in the movie (look between about 10 seconds to 40 seconds in). A hundred-foot wave would be just over twice the length of the lifeboat.

It would be a bit of a blast though to display a lifeboat standing on its tail in that way. Imagine a ship model you could hang on a picture hook on the wall...

Preiser figures may be a good starting point.  They are hard plastic and can be chopped and glued or modified with any good hobby filler.

I used the 1927 flight crew and passengers as a source of extra crew figures for my Flower Corvette and some of the more modern subjects may be suitable for your crew.

I saw someone's build where they'd used German (Revell? Preiser?) fireman figures, suitably modified.
