Email Addresses of New and Active MembersIt is most important that valid email addresses are given by new members when signing up, and for current members to maintain a valid email address too. There is no need to worry about other members seeing your email address - they can't, even when emailing you via the forum. Current members should make sure that their anti-spam blocker is not preventing forum emails from getting through!
During the signing-up process, new members are sent an email giving details on how to complete the signing-up process. It also contains confirmation of their userid and password. If the email address they gave was false, then they cannot become an active member of the forum. This is to prevent spammers from joining the forum. If this email bounces for whatever reason, then the new account will be deleted. I am no longer going to spend days sending emails and worrying about invalid addresses. If a new member finds that their account has been deleted, then email me! Note that Google Gmail email accounts are no longer acceptable for new members due to the intense spamming that uses such accounts. Active members who signed up with Gmail accounts can still use their current email addresses but they will not be able to change them to new Gmail addresses.
Sorry to have to do this but the rules of the hosts of my forum do not allow false email addresses. They can shut this forum down without warning if this rule is breached. So it is very necessary that all members have valid email addresses. It also helps to keep the forum spam-free. There will be occasional sweeps of the email addresses by the sending of an admin email to all members. Any member with an invalid email address will be suspended until a valid email address is supplied.
BTW, should you change your email address at anytime, the system automatically disables your account. At the same time I receive notification via email and then have to activate your account manually. There may be a delay in re-activating your account as, contrary to belief, I do not spend all day, every day on my PC!

A reminder that people registering should ensure that the email address of this forum (admin at airfixtributeforum.co.uk) is not blocked by their anti-spam filters and where necessary included in their email address book on their white list.

People are still causing problems with their email addresses and I am receiving returned or bounced emails on a regular basis. I will be sending out an admin email to everybody. All those members whose emails bounce will be suspended until a valid email address is given.
The strange thing is that a valid email address has to be given to register in the first place. So, some people are changing them to invalid ones after registration. This will not do as we have to keep on top of spammers! Up until now I have managed to keep their accounts from being activated but I will now have to send out regular emails to everybody to ensure that no spammers have slipped through. It is a pain but I'd prefer a forum free of those who seek to post links to porn sites and other unwelcome sites. I'm sure you all do too.

Today (at 0907 GMT) I sent out an administrative email to all members of the forum. This is to verify that email addresses of users are valid. Any email addresses that bounce will lead to the suspension of members until valid email addresses are provided.
Members should ensure that the email address of this forum (airfixtributeforum at davecov.co.uk) is not blocked by their anti-spam filters and where necessary included in their email address book on their white list. They should also ensure that their email boxes are not full up either!
If you have not receive the email (entitled "Airfix Tribute Forum - Test of email address - please ignore", then you have problems!
