Hms Hotspur airfix 1/600

Hello the fellowship, here i am for a new building...
For this time i want to make the british  class H destroyer Hms Hotspur in 1944 during the d day escort and bombing duty.So i take the old airfix  kit and like the other i re built a lot of part. But for this time it s a little more difficult because i don t have a lot of documentation and photos on the subject .Thank for all of you (djblackburn and the others) for your help.
So at this time i have decided to represent the ship has follow:hedgehog in front position insteed of the A turret,B turret in position, lantern radar on the forecastle bridge, ifdf new rear mast,AA gun insteed of the 2nd torpedoes tube,4 oerlikons 20mm,2 life boat and a lot of life raft,Aft forecastle modified, and more depth charge, and no Y turret. And a lot af little details of course....If anyone have more info on the 1944 hotspur refit don t hesitate and tell me ...

To be continued....

Ayup Remy,
(please understand Remy this is a common Yorkshire term of address used when meeting someone who is a good friend- I think Feanor uses it quite a lot)
Whew!- another destroyer- your fleet is building up! I am particularly interested to see what the EDGEDOG (OOPS Hedgehog) looks like! Sorry Remy but I couldn't resist my little joke ( the mad British sense of humour). I still haven't finished Richelieu because I need to do paint touch ups with good light. Yet Gneisenau is finally finished and I hope to post that soon as well.

ps I wish my French was as good as your English!

Ayup Stu, yes another destroyer just to ending the airfix destroyer set...I have a lot of project for the future  and i think alternate a scratch built with an upgrade airfix kit...On the Monty built i have make an hedgehog too...and the same will be on the
Hotspur.
Amitiés Rémy
Ps Airifx release the iron duke and the old lady Warspite...

Hello the fellowship, the building is close to ending, only are missing at this time the railling, life boats and rafts, litgh projector and others little stuffs to complete the model.I am not realy sure of the 1944 hotspur aspect but after a lot of research(thank for your help mr Blackburn) i have decided to stop and make the Hotspur like this.

Next stage the painting job  with a special camo scheme wear by the allied ships in 43-44

Hi Remy,
this is looking very good with almost total scratch building. Where are you getting the PE? I like the HEDGEHOG! Plus the menacing looking main guns at fore and aft.
cheers Stuart
ps I plod ever onwards with KGV and Richelieu still needs its final paint touch up.
orionv

Hell Stu,for the PE i use the white ensign products but in the case of the classe H destroyers the WEM stuff is very poor in details so i try to make all the missing details with steached sprues and spare box PE...

Ayup the fellowship, after a few days off, here are the latest pictures showing the Hms Hotspur in its 1944 refit. The scene takes place on the morning of june 6 1944,Hms Hotspur  escort a convoy near the Normandy coast...On this built (like the Eskimo and motgomerry)still missing the 20 mm oerlikons guns and crew PE
My usual supplier had problems with deliveries but my command will soon arrive and then i can complete all my builts.

Where do I find the words?

Your ability to turn out these wonderful builds is amazing!

I hope your efforts will inspire others to take a good hard look at these classic destroyer kits.  Your work is just one example of the great number and variety of possible builds that can be made from what is essentially a utilitarian-grade model kit.

My own plans to create eleven such A-I class models, using the stash of Hotspur kits I've collected over the years, includes two "leaders" (Duncan and Faulknor), a minelayer (Impulsive), and one variant from each of the remaining 8 destroyer classes. I can only hope mine will turn out half even half as good as your Hotspur!

I hope others will see your excellent results, and be inspired to have a go of their own at creating one of the hundreds of variants that are possible from this inexpensive and widely available destroyer kit.

Cést Magnifique!  Cheers!

Thank you very much to this great forum is to share our knowledge and sense of progress. It is true that with this model we can make a multitude of other destroyers of the A-I class. One of my next project will be a VW destroyer class built from another Hotspur airfix kit.I will keep the hull and scratchbuilt all the rest of the ship like usual...
Thank you for your comments and encouragements ,see you soon for a new building that you will enjoy your english lover of the British royal navy.

Superb once more Remy
T16S

Ayup Remy,
Wonderful as usual! Soon you will have a whole flotilla of destroyers. I really like the rusty weathering- don't forget we need a photo tutorial on the painting to show how you do it.
cheers Stuart
ps- I've not been idle and apart from the Walrus I've just finished a KGV- Home Fleet May 1941.
orionv

Thank you all,i  appreciated your coments.
stu,i have hate to see photos of your KGV.
As soon as i ll receive the PE oerlikons and crew to finish the Eskimo and the Hotspur,i take photos of the 4 destroyers gathered.
In the meantime,i have started the Hms Hood building,it s a project dear to my heart. For a few months i ve started to gather a lot of documentationon this beautiful ship and the work will be very long and difficult.
Indeed airifx kit represent the Hood in the 30'sand i want to do the years 40 41...
Work has started and you will see very soon the first photos.
Merci à tous,amitiés Rémy
