HMS Kellington

HMS Kellington, a 1957 built minesweeper, currently berthed at Stockton on Tees after use as a Sea Cadets base was vandalised last week and is now been broken up by Able UK.  If you have a chance to visit Stockton you might see the ship being broken up over the next few days. Be quick.!!

That seems awful Graham
sorry for the cadets

FWIW, my nephew is out in the trouble zones at present on a minesweeper, and i am very proud and happy of his demeanor and, more importantly,  proof that not all youngsters are brainless morons

KELLINGTON gone, IVESTON still very much alive

There's one remaining "ton" class in decent nick in the UK. Ex-HMS, now TS (Training Ship) IVESTON is alongside in Tilbury. She's Thurrock Sea Cadet's HQ, a registered RYA training establishment and the centre of Sea Cadet marine engineering training in the London area.

She generates her own power, cadets (and instructing staff) are accommodated in original mess decks and cabins and she's kept very busy. A highly dedicated team work in their own time to keep on top of the maintenance. She might never steam again but IVESTON continues to give excellent service.

There are examples of model "ton"s  around, but I haven't found anything between 1:100 and 1:1200.

Yours aye,
Chris
