Ayup All...
What a shame. Rest in Peace Ted.
In the programmes i saw him speak in, he always seemed still close to tears and almost embarrassed for the loss of his shipmates and ship, never far from the moment he was thrown out through the window of his station. Always asking 'why me?'. he seemed a gentle, modest kind of a man. of a type that hardly exists in England today. It's good to know that his pain may be assuaged by meeting his long lost shipmates in the great hereafter...

My sentiments exactly-
Ted has 'crossed the bar' R.I.P.
It seems strange that survivors always seem to feel guilt and a huge loss for those who went before. I remember that Enoch Powell in an interview said he constantly felt guilt because he survived when others in his regiment were killed. Think what Jon Pertwee must have felt when he heard the Hood had gone because he had transferred off the ship just before she sailed to meet Bismarck.

Ted did much to keep the memory of Hood's sinking alive.
He was president of the HMS Hood Association and will no doubt be sorely missed.
