RichelieuHere are a couple of photos of my latest model a Heller 1:400 Richelieu. The camo will depict the ship after its US refit in 1943. I've added lots of detail for ventilators, gun tub rims and struts and brass etch on railings and radars etc. I really should replace the 40mm quadruple mounts and the oerlikons with brass and resin ones from l"A rsenal but they are expensive and Madame is counting the pennies'
Richelieu was as long as the Bismarck- see the two models together and very well protected and armed. The kit is not bad OOB but extra detail is needed to bring it up to scratch. I should finish it this week sometime and will post more photos

Ohhhhh my favorite french battleship, the most beautifull ship with the Hood during the 2WW.Bravo stu nice built but be carreful it s seem to me that a part of the camo is sprayed in the reality and not with clean line. But i am not a french navy specialist.See on the l'Ar senal forum for more info about this. Here s a lot of specialist about this french mytic boat.I follow this post with attention.

Hi Remy,
The camo as you see it was the base coat and it seems that it blurred through several shades down to the light grey- so I've now done this and it doesn't look too bad. From a distance of about a metre it blurs very well. I also tidied up the edges where it wasn't meant to be fuzy and it now looks better. Richelieu was indeed a magnificent looking ship and I think she woud have given Tirpitz a battering had she sortied while Richelieu was with the Home Fleet at Scapa Flow. One of the great what if questions of naval warfare. Hopefully photos of the finished model soon.

Yes and the Richelieu was built in response of the german pockets batleship building.Richelieu was born to hunt this sort of ship (graf spee,deuchtland...) this was the reason that all the main guns was on the front of the boat. And in 1939 he participate on the graf spee hunt....but no fight for him...

Hi folks- here is the finished Richelieu in all its glam warpaint! Quite a job to get the camo to blend- it looks much better in the flesh. A very nice and surprisingly well detailed kit considering its age. Replacement bofors and oerlikons from l”Goonerboy would upgrade it further but with the pound sinking like a stone against the dollar and euro it will have to wait. A good version of this kit would be the pre 1943 US navy yard upgrade when it had the rear hangar and aircraft. I’Goonerboy apparently do the aircraft and catapult for it. A beautiful ship and one of Remy’s favourites I understand.
