Hello everyone.  Welcome to my portfolio.  The models you see here were built in accordance with Dogma 72.  Dogma 72 was created by me to be like the Danish filmmaking movement "Dogma 95" with one important exception--instead of weird Danish films you get plastic models.

The rules of Dogma 72:

The models are all 1/72 scale.

No spray painting of any kind is allowed, except for decals printed on a computer printer, which may involve spraying in their creation. (added 6/2/14)

Filling and sanding is minimized.  Gaps should be avoided through construction technique.

No masking of any kind.  The finish is hand painted with a brush.  Decals and metal foil are allowed.

The kits should be "older" if possible.  FROG, Airfix, old Revell and Heller are preferred.

OKAY SO LET'S ROCK!!

The famous Black Spitfire of Ezer Weizman.  This plane was like an "airshow" plane--used in the sixties as a morale builder and recruiting tool.

Image

It's the newer Hasegawa Spitfire VIII in 1/72 scale.

The Mystere IV in 1/72 scale from Revell.

To my discomfort, I put this scheme together from available photos and used decals from the spares box.  Then I found this kit in the old Matchbox version and it has THE SAME MARKINGS!!  Sometimes you can't win... :rotfl:

Rudel's Stuka.  This is the 1/72 FROG kit with decals patched together from here and there.  All painting was done in accordance with Dogma 72.  The spinner was hand painted, as were the yellow stripes.

The very nice FROG 1/72 Arado 234 jet bomber.

Sometimes, you have to pick your fights.  I knew the "winter distemper" whitewash paint would look bad, so I just painted this to represent this plane before they splashed the whitewash on it!  :D

The MPC rebox of the Airfix 1/72 Spitfire Vb.  I replaced all of the decals except for the personal markings.  I've learned recently that this plane had a "Donald Duck (tm Disney, all rights reserved) and so MPC was too chicken to include the duck.

The Testors/Heller 1/72 Fw-190A with markings from an old Microscale "Luftwaffe Aces" sheet.  This isn't the Airfix boxing with Priller's markings.

Image

I put the cockpit from the Revell kit into THIS one!  I mean, this one had a canopy you could open, and the other one didn't.  Seemed "right" somehow...

Special Hobby 1/72 Sea Fury.  I hand painted those stripes and I don't think I'll do that again.  The photo hides the brushmarks!

Newer Hasegawa Hurricane with Aviation Usk Finnish markings in 1/72 scale.

Image

This is a good illustration of how colors influence each other.  The "lighter green" is excactly the same RLM 70 black green as on Rudel's Stuka.  The darker color is black.

My one "kitbash."  This is the spine of a Hasegawa Mk. 1 grafted onto a Heller Mk. XVI.  I was a teensy bit off and it shows.

You can't be a teensy bit off, I guess.

Image

Aviation Usk and Aeromaster decals.

Note: This model was clobbered by a baseball.  I will leave this image here as a memorial to the dearly departed. :(

Nice to see models without all the heavy panel lines & weathering for a change. You must have a pretty steady hand for those canopies. Great stuff.

The KP S.199 -- the kit was challenging at every step.  This is stock, OOB with decals from somewhere--I can't remember.  It was little sheet from Eastern Europe... hazy....memory so hazy...

Egyptian Frog Meteor IV.  Paint is Tamiya aluminum, followed by a coat of Future, followed by a coat of Vallejo silver.

Image

Decals are "built up" from black and white stripes and the Dragon MiG-15.
