I would like to do a Blenheim, is that OK? The only Airfix kit I can find is a MkIV which I think is a fighter variant, hopefully I can mod it back to a Mk1.

I think the only visual difference between the MkIV (bomber) and the MkIVF (fighter, natch) is that the latter carried a ventral gun pack with four .303in Brownings - so you wouldn't have to go to the bother of sawing the nose off and replacing with a MkI front end. By the looks of things both versions can be built from the Airfix kit.

The fighter version was actually slightly slower than the bomber. It was used for long range escort early in the war, without too much success - notably Blackburn Skua raids on Norway in 1940.

You don't have to build it as the Free French Bomber either.

2 Group were equipped with MkIVs, 'Hughie' Edwards won his VC in one of 105 Sqns.

Only the weekend to go and we're off. I'll get my kit out and shoot some photos of the box and sprues this weekend. Might be an idea to make sure it's complete, too. Now where did I put it?!  Think

All aboard who's coming aboard...

BTW I apologise now if some of you sign up last minute stylee and I don't approve the membership til Monday - we have BIIIIG trouble with our internet at home at the mo.

All the best to everybody with their builds.

Sadly, I'll have to sit this one out (and I pulled out a kit as well). Other projects need my attention. Soz!!

No you're not too late! Follow the instructions in the first post of this thread about signing up to the usergroup, and Dan will sort you out with a thread when he's next online.

Any thoughts on what you will build?

Best
Rich

I'll have to head to my LMS to see what they've got. Their range of airfix kits in the scale I like is pretty limited- perhaps a mossie although I'd rather go for something a bit more original if I can find it- I only returned to the hobby about 2 weeks ago so my stash is non existent. How long have I got? pretty much until it finishes? (obviously within reason!) I'll pop to the shop in the next couple of days & let you know.
Thanks
George

It's never too late!

Come on in - the water's warm....

Just sign up as mentioned by Rich and I'll set up a thread (provided I can log on     ) and you'll be away.

Actually, no... when the build's finished it gets moved down below (Group Builds Plus) - and we can still add threads for you to join in forevermore, so if you don't get there for a while, it doesn't matter.

Can I enter my Savoia Marchetti SM 79, or is that considered too heavy?

Umm, this thread's been moved out of the GB area to it's own section.... ummm, any reason why?!

Hi all. I'm new to this group and am going to do a marauder. I recalled having a hampden which dad bought for me at a garage sale. I found it in his shed where it has been for many years and inside the box were black widow parts, so I guess I'm set for a night fighter build one day.

Cheers, Robert
