|
|
Dear members
As many of you will recall, a couple of hours after the old Airfix.com forum folded in April 2006, I created The Airfix Tribute Forum as a place for Airfix-ophiles to continue to discuss modelling and Airfix kits in particular. During the dark days that followed when Humbrol collapsed and the uncertainty of the future of Airfix prior to their acquisition by Hornby, I like to think that we helped to keep the Airfix torch burning!
The forum has gone from strength to strength and now has a membership of over 1350. With the forum in such a healthy state, I now feel that my work is done and it is time to hand over the baton to somebody else to take the forum forward. Also, I can no longer devote the time and energy to the forum for health and personal reasons and handing over will prevent the forum from possible stagnation due to my not being able to give it the attention it rightly deserves.
I never had any doubt in my mind as to who my successor should be and you will already know the enormous contribution he makes to the forum. He has agreed to take ownership of the forum already and needs no introduction from me:
RATCH
He has been a very loyal second-in-command and I am sure you agree that the forum will be safe in his hands.
For the past few months I have been spending less and less time on the public side of the forum but still maintained a regular presence behind the scenes, especially on the Administration side. That will change now as I intend to restrict my role even on that level although I will remain as an Administrator - as long as the new owner wants me to be one! Remember to contact Ratch for all Admin problems
I would like to thank you all for the support you have all given me during my time as owner of ATF and I am sure you will give Ratch the same level of support. Just be gentle with him!

Ayup Dave...!
Talk about bombshells...
Well, i guess the day had to come mate.
Thankyouverymuch for starting this wonderful forum and its unique and great Atmosphere. i hope that all your new endeavours go well and that you don't wear yourself out too much. there's STILL a lot of 'jolly Boy-ing' to be done. even tough i've been quiet, this is where my modelling heart is, and the great, great friends made on (ceratinly my two) great occasions they've been. See you around.
To a worthy successor, Ratch, i wish all the best and MY full support. i'm only a phone call away if you need.
And lastly again to you Dave. may your only trouble be the carpet-monster... !
Best, STU. _________________ Airfix Member 022... Jolly Boy.

Thank you Dave, and good luck Ratch. ATF is a little haven of peace on the web, and the only forum I know that is not stuffed with trolls and flamers. Long may it continue. _________________ Roger W. |

Thanks Dave for all the time, effort and money you've put into this site making it one of the best forums available and a one stop place to visit for queries on all aspects of model making and a friendly chat.
Congratulations to Ratch. I'm sure that the forum will continue to grow under his leadership and go from strength to strength.
All hail our new leader Ratch!! _________________ 60% of the time it works every time.

Hi Dave
This news comes as a bit of a shock, probably to the les observant of us at least. Thank you for creating and making this forum the most pleasant and affable one on the web, it's kept me away from modelling for far more hours than I care to admit too, a better testament I cannot make as to it's alure. Good luck in whatever you are turning your hand too now and make sure you keep posting your latest creations.
Congratulations and good luck to Ratch too, perhaps this might slow your modelling down a tad now so that the slow coaches amongst us can at least have a chance to catch up with your numerous recent masterpieces.

Thanks to you Dave for starting this fantastic forum.
My enjoyment of building has grown tremendously since I joined the forum.
I have never come across a place with so such positive atmosphere and friendship
across the whole globe as this place.
And thanks to you Ratch to be willing to carry-on with this great work.
You deserve a medal!
And Dave.. Don’t forget to write “home” now and then.
With kind regards and great respect to you two
and to all who makes this forum a great place to be.
Jesper. |

As the others have said so eloquently thanks Dave for creating this forum. And congrats to Ratch and a big thankyou for taking over at the helm. At least we know the forum can only go from strength to strength under his guidance.

I'd like to thank Dave for lighting the torch that has drawn Airfix fans together. As for Ratch (he's a model making octopus), how in the hell do we keep up? _________________ Collectable kits built here. Baggies, blisters or boxed. You collect 'em, but I'll build 'em. |

Just to add my bit.
Thanks to Dave who's enthusiasm for Airfix enabled this forum to be 'born' amongst the many modelling forums on the web. I hope you can relax a little now and get on with your personal life.
Well done Ratch!
You are the natual person to take over and you have my support 100%.
All the best to both of you.

Dave
Thanks for all the hard work setting up the forum and making it a pleasure to look at, I too spend a lot of time reading when I should be modelling. Good luck in your future endeavours. Don't forget to write 'home' once in awhile.
Good luck Ratch in your new appointment _________________ dieselweasel |
