Sprue shot for the Scorpion Tank and badly focused one of the complete article sans tracks. Constructed whilst watching Match of the Day last night.
Tonight I will paint an undercoat over it.

I'm just wondering why you didn't fit the tracks? Surely it's going to be a lot harder to fit them now and even more so to get them to lie down on the running gear.....Or is the hull still in subassemblies?

| Its all in sub sections. The hull and turret are not glued together. Makes painting easier. Tracks will be put on once everything is painted. |

Wouldn't it be easier to put the tracks on the wheels first, then paint it all together. I find vinyl tracks can sometimes be very difficult to fit to painted surfaces.

| I have a special super glue which sticks anything to anything without damage. If it sticks the glue sellers bumper back onto his Transit Van it will glue a bit of rubber track to plastic wheels. |

The tank is now painted but looks a little lost against the other models on the build table. Also due to differences in scale the Scorpion will look more like a weapon load on the tornado than a tank. The Cat managed to tear one of the tracks into two pieces while biting her claws !. One could convert another Scorpion into a Samson to show a repair scene on the edge of the airbase but as Christmas approaches and a 1/48 Canberra beckons I'll have to repair it as best I can.
The weapons loader and the Crew ladder turned up so I'll most probably start them next. |

The diorama stalled at the moment due to the Scorpion awaiting the RAC to turn up, Hannants managing to lose my order and Airfix on a go slow so my truck and land rover are in a back log.
I suppose i can get on with the base and the weapon loader whilst I await delivery of my kits. |

The Scorpion is finished and some of the other kits have turned up after a couple of months !. It won't be finished by the deadline but I'm not going to give on it.

Finished Land Rover and Bedford truck for the diorama.
They take about 3 hours to paint and assemble if you're using acrylic paint.
With some tips from Colin M I shall be under coating the diorama base tonight. I've ordered more flock from Amera and some PVA glue so it will be grass covered quite soon!
Once this done there is the Tornado to build, the boarding ladder and weapons loader to build and some figures to paint.
It might be ready for Hendon but might not |

Undercoating the grassy Knolls ready for adding grassy bits.
I've ordered some polyscale concrete and mud acrylic paints and a Tamiya weathering set which will be let loose on it.

Looking great so far Thomas. The Scopion is a great little kit, one of my faves. You might consider taking a walk into Hobbycraft, they have quite a nice selection of grass and trees, well in Nottingham anyway.
What scheme are you doing the Tornado in? _________________ Modelling - Buy twenty, research ten, build one (eventually).

| The Tornado will be a 16 Sq RAFG example using the Revell kits decals as I have already built a TWCU/45SQ example. |

| I've also won a Hitech etch and pewter undercarriage set which comes with the Airfix Hitech Tornado. Makes up for the fact that 6 months on and Hannants still have'nt sent the metal undercarriage legs I ordered. |
