Slow going but staining gradually applied - done entirely with Tamiya Smoke - some bigger areas were left (and the entire front section) so staining can be applied over the decals.

Looks great BTW

Just an airbrush Ratch - fine point with a post it note and away you go. A mixture of panels and free brushing.

Tonight was adding a couple more decals - but that's about it.  Decals will take a little while as there are alot of smaller ones to apply - then finish landing gear and minor details and that's it.!

Still plugging away

Wow, now thats what I call a bare metal finish.  It looks fantastic and I've picked up quite a few useful tips from it.  Many thanks ;)

A great metal finish and attention to detail.  What seems to be the fine 'dirty' spray work is most effective that somehow helps to convey speed. It just shows what a Lightning should look like.

Thanks all - not alot of progress due to festive season and rush of jobs before Christmas.  I have painted the landing gear and assembled the fin and nose rim.  So close....

Thanks too Jerry, I tried to make it look the speed machine.  They're shocking for leaking oil though.  It wasn't uncommon for new pilots to be concerned about leaks.  Instructors usually smartened them up with the term "Your flying it - not buying it".

Anyway - underside shot - wheel wells to be darkened and still a few minor decals to be added, only to the fuselage though now. (so I can now hold the wings to apply)

Well so close to finishing - landing gear has been glued in and wheels done - just the gear covers and canopy to paint and it's complete. And still a few smaller decals.  I should be able to finish it in a night - but due to time of year - which night it will be is the problem!

Very near complete - in fact it won't change much aside from minor shading and a few more decals - there's alot - and I've been busy painting other items (ie decorating) so spare time is very limited  at the mo -still it's taken a lot longer than I thought. My cameras run out of battery so it's the first click - so I'll add more probably more than likely tomorrow now.
