Vote here for the type of subject you would like to build in the next Military Aircraft GB to take place after the Cold War Jets GB finishes. The poll will run for 7 days.
Option A.
Theme GB, e.g. Nightfighters, Turboprops, Fleet Air Arm, Film & TV .
Option B.
Single subject GB, e.g. Defiant, Lightning, ME 110, Swordfish, T6 Texan.

Don't worry, given the difficulties we've had defining the medium bomber and cold war GB's, and how tricky defining a nightfighter/intruder GB could be, I strongly suspect the single subject GB will win

L'option "A" pour moi.
Des "single subject builds" ne sont pas ma tasse de thé.

I prefer GB's when we all build the same thing - depending, of course, on the subject _________________ Owen

With regards to the TV/film idea does that mean a vehicle such as the mystery machine for example or could it be something like a helicopter with all the gear on it like the ones on the intro credits to M*A*S*H.
Or an airfix kit built to be like it's real life counter part from something in say band of brothers.
P.S if you join a group build do you have to display photo's of you're progress/finished kit. |

Film & TV means a military aircraft which appeared in a film or TV show, which can be built or adapted from an Airfix kit. For example, the F-14 from Topgun, the Dakota from Band of Brothers etc.
A group build is a sharing experience where you show your build progress and final product, so generally some photo's are helpful.

| Well I wouldn't be able to display photo's as I haven't got one of these online photo storage things like you have and can't get them to upload with the attacment thing from my computer. |

I went for option B since the last three Military Aircraft builds will have been based on themes (Seaplane, Medium bombers and Cold War), so it would be nice if for the next build we all built the same subject. _________________ 60% of the time it works every time.

Blimey, it's close isn't it. I might not even have to rig the result! I must admit it would be nice to have a single subject, or even single kit GB, we haven't had one for a while, and this type of build is what we mainly did in the beginning of the forum.

Interesting point but have you noticed that the preference for mil aircraft tend to be a theme whereas certain others tend to be a single subject (civil a/c with Islander, 737-200; all those tracked thingies and so on).
Just on a point of order, a query more than anything else. When I mentioned turboprops yonks ago, I had in mind the ability to build both military (Herc, OV-10, Pucara) and civvy (Skyvan, F-27, Vanguard). As that's a theme across two "areas", how could that be handled?
Edited to add another dumb question - isn't the next Mil GB going to be the 1/24 build, which necessarily is mil because there's no other option...

Odd isn't it, yet we started with pretty much all single kit or subject GB's. Maybe with a theme it gives people more choice to join in, after all the Mil Air range is huge you could wait years for your favourite kit to be featured otherwise.

I think a "one night stand" could be arranged for a combined Turboprop GB, the F-27 is due to be re-released soon isn't it? There isn't a current civilian air GB running (or planned?) so we could slot that one in there fairly quickly.

Ssssh! That GB is for those people with "specialist interests", for whom size is important! It's an extended GB, so will run concurrently with the others, otherwise it would block of half the year.

I think another point is that with a theme, because there are so many options you stand a good chance of already having something suitable in the stash without having to try and track something specific down.

Still really close at 10/9! I'm beginning to think we're not keeping you lot busy enough, judging by the number of double builds in the cold war jets GB, or are you all just jet starved? Maybe we will have to run one of each .
