Don't know if ones been done before but what about a civvie or military emergency services GB.
Could do police, fire and medical unit's any/all scales
would include figure's buildings and of course the vehicles for either military or civilian emergency sevices from any time period.

Just a thought

An idea, but I think you would be pretty limited for choice in the Airfix range, from the top of my head I can think of the following;

RNLI Lifeboat and Seaking S&R.
Dennis Fire engine.
Christie Fire engine (1/12).
Dennis "Katy" Ambulance (can that be built OOB?).
Ex JB Landrover Ambulance.
RAF emergency services set.
Possible conversion of an aircraft into an air ambulance (Islander, Rapide)?

I may have missed something, I'm sure someone may have others to add to the list.

Well I built the airfix ambulance 1:72 with the fire engine once OOB but that's because I am not as advanced as you lot making strechers etc togo inside it.
Multipose desert rats/british europe and afrika korps can be made as medic's and airfix recently released a landrover 1 tonne fc ambulance.
Do group builds have to be of airfix kit's because as you say there is a limited choice but Revell has a large fire engine set, Italeri have fire fighting willy's jeep and opel blitz and Tamiya have a couple of ambulances most cars can be done up for police ones.

Police cars could be
most mercedes
mini coopers
some french cars
almost all fords
bmw's
lamborighini
rover's (undercover)(lightbulb on top)

to list but a few

There seems to be quite a lot of choice there, Viper makes a good point that some cars can be made into a emergency vehicles (I'm not sure what cars there are in the range, I havent done one before)

Well if I could find some cars in the near future or get that ambulance/fire engine dio set of airfix's or the landrover ambulance then I might put this in for a vote.

I think that even with a limited choice a lot could be built as you all scratch build extra's for the kit's every one builds with there own paint scheme if I did a seaking it would be mountain rescue not navy or coastguard.

IIRC the ambulance body of the Airfix K2Y can be fitted to a modified Morris CDSW to create a Morris ambulance.

The mighty Airfix 1/72 Jeep could presumably be build as a field expedient ambulance too.

Fopr what it's worth, all the best

For the Land Rover from the Bloodhound  there is the conversion in the June 1977 Airfix magazine for a Rescue Tender Vehicle, have the article  I'd join in with this as a entry.

IN May 69 there was a conversion to a recovery vehicle any one have copy?

For a major kit bash - A Green Goddess - though I suspect that this comes under the auspices of a scratch build. Pieces coming from the Recovery Kit

If it's an emergency vehicle as far as i'm concerned it can be built if you really wanted you could do a what if emergency vehicle like say a aston martin db5 fire chief car with all the trimmings like axes extinguishers etc and extending passenger seat ladder.

A good starting point for a Green Godess could be the ready made poly Bedford RL truck.

The Emergency Set contains personel, stretcher bearers , and fire fighters and stretchers

The ex JB Bedford MK    4 ton lorry or the Bedford MK  Refueller could be a good basis for a later MK Fire tender or Pump.

BTW Bedford MK is the Military version of the civil Bedford TK, so by lowering the suspension you can build any of the TK versions of civil vehicles. Carefully sand the tyres down and you have civilian wheels & tyres.

Well our young friend may have departed, but the idea is still a pretty good one and I would still support this theme for a special build.....If we were to widen the theme to "To The Rescue!" or something similar there are all manner of possibilities for interesting and unusual subjects.

Just a thought, all the best

One of the ideas I had in mind was an overturned boat with both the Airfix Lifeboat and Seaking in attendance.....The Rescue Launch is an obvious candidate for a similar WWII equivalent!

All the best
