I hope I don't dissapoint you Michael!!!
I also hope I finish this Group build on time for once.
I've made a start on the interior. The ejector seat is a little basic but I'll be adding a little detail to it. I won’t bother with the Navigators seat as it probably wont be seen anyway.
I’ve also assembled the interior ready for painting. It’s a little basic but once it’s painted black there won’t me much to see anyway so it’s more than adequate.
I’ve packed a lot of lead sheeting into the back of all the consoles and under the floor as this aircraft has the potential to be a tail sitter Airfix recommend 100 grams of weight in the Instructions.

This might seem a silly question but how do you cut the lead? Pliers? Or is there a better way? _________________ --.. --- -. . / -.-. .- .-.. .-.. / .-- --- --- -.. |

| I normally use a pair of cutters but I recently found that I can cut the stuff I've got with a sturdy pair of scissors. I do use an old pair though to save damaging my best ones. |

There's some nice detail in that cockpit. I'm looking forward to watching the progress of this build. _________________ "It's life Jim, but not as we know it!" - Dr McCoy

Last night I painted the area around the side window black (well very dark grey) I decided that the side window looked too thick as it stood and I decided to thin it down a little. I filed the sides down till I could push it through the hole and then lined it up so it was flush with the inside surface. It then stood proud of the fuselage. I ran some superglue round the outside and once this had set I sanded it flush. I then Polished the glass with a flexifile sanding stick, this then polished up to the same standard as it was before sanding commenced and it conforms perfectly to the fuselage contours.
The 'Fighter' canopy comes as two parts which is correct for the PR.9 but the canopy on the B (I) 8 was fixed in the closed position and the pilot climbed in through the side door. I thought it might be eaiser to make it a one piece canopy before attatching it to the kit so I very carefully superglued both parts together taking care to make sure they fit the top fuselage insert.

I've made a bit mor progress with this build this evening. I've assembled the tail surfaces and fitted the bomb bay and nose wheel well.
As I am building a canberra with a gun pack fitted I'm not sure if the bomb bay doors were fixed closed or not as the gun pack is along the centreline of the bomb bay doors. Then nose wheel well has some ejector pin marks that need scraping out.
The tail surfaces are strange. The rudder has really deep panel lines which are not on the real thing and elevators are devoid of all detail. I will scribe now panel lines into the tail surfaces and fill the lines on the rudder

I've been working on the wings this evening. I've decided to just have the rockets on the wings so only opened up one of the slots in each wing.
The undercarriage bays fit perfectly into the wing however the air intakes and exhausts need a bit of sanding however they fit much better than the intakes on the Classic Airframes kit
I mated the wings to the fuselage for the obligatory dry fit shot and I'm starting to get an impression of the size and shape of the model
My next job is to paint the cockpit.... |

Coming along nicely, I've seen that Cammett have produced resin rudders sans engraved lines, if you fancy going that route.

Thanks for the Info Richard I've had a look at the price and it is reasonable but I'm not buying any aftermarket stuff for this build with the exception of the decals I've already purchased.
Since my last post I've scribed some basic lines onto the tail surfaces. I've also started painted the cockpit black and detailing the pilots ejector seat has started because this is very prominant in the cockpit and the detail will be seen. The rest of the cokpit will be as it is in the box

Here are a few photos of my painted cockpit before the two fuselage halves are joined together.
I painted the cockpit black HU33 then drybrushed with some dark grey HU33/67 mix. Once this was dry I picked out the various switches and dials and added some scuff marks to the floor. The cusions and padding is painted khaki HU26 and drybrushed with HU26/93 mix.
I will be adding some instrument decals to the instrument Panel later as I can apply these from the outside. It will also speed up the time taken to get the fusleage together. I've also dipped the canopy in Klear to maintain the clarity and to seal the join between the front and rear portions. I'm also in the process of filling the scribed lines on the rudder.
I'm taking no chances with the nose weight and the cylindrical object you can see above the nosewheel well used to provide weight to the base of a computer flight stick I had to throw away when it became faulty. The weights I salvaged will continue to provide service for tail sitting models I build in the future...
