Thanks guys, I'm quite pleased with how my ejector seat has turned out.

My next challenge is to make the kit parts into a Type 3CS Mk2 for the pilot and Type 4QS Mk3 for the Nav in my PR.9 as I'm planning to fully detail the inside hinged nose compartment as well as correct the pilots cockpit.

The next job for this one though is for the gunsight glass to be made from acetate and the canopy can go on. Because it doesn't open I want to eliminate the join line before I paint the upper surfaces...

The website reference for the seat will be VERY useful. I have six of these to build and await the arrival of the B2........

The Martin Baker website is a great reference if you are modelling an aircraft fitted with one of their seats.

6 of these should take up plenty of room. I plan to have 4 Canberras in total. This one, a PR.9 a B.2 and the Classic Airframes T.17 I've half built.

However they are lovely kits and go together really quickly for an aircraft of it's size.

This evening I've fitted the canopy, which I attached with PVA.

The fit is quite good but there are a few gaps but I've filled these with more white glue. As this is a non-opening canopy I want to eliminate as much as the join seam as I can especially around the canopy hinge.
There is a bit of a step here so some sanding is in order to smooth it out. I only hope I don't get any dust on the inside of that lovely clear windscreen.

looking Great!!!
That ejector seat is almost too good to be put into the cockpit. It could be displayed as a separate model by itself.

Here is some more progress on my Canberra.

I detailed the pitot tubes on the tail with some steel tubing to give them strength.

I then masked the wheel wells and flaps and sprayed them with Alclad Aluminium along with the jet exhausts and the undercarriage. Forgetting to do the turbine faces in the progress
I got some overspray on the black but knew this would happen so I sprayed  the underside with another coat of black.

I have also fitted the undercarriage as I was impatient to see what she looks like on her wheels.

The next job will be masking and painting the upper surfaces.

The black and aluminium paintwork looks great, this is shaping up to be an outstanding model!

Thanks for all the comments. I'm pleased with the progress so far and I'm glad people are finding the progress interesting. My aim is to get it ready for our model group meeting next Wednesday but I wont rush it in order to do this.

I finally got round to doing most of the masking on the underside last night.  getting the demarcation line the correct height on bothsides was very tricky due to the curved surface. We'll find out if I got it right once the roundels go on.

Just a bit more to finish off and I can paint the grey tonight. I want to try and get some tonal variation on the large flat surfaces without going too overboard as most examples look clean and well maintained on the photographs I've seen.

THis evening I managed to paint the upper surface grey. The technique was an adaptation of what I normally do but thought I'd give it a try.

First I sprayed it HU106 Ocean Grey. I then went over all the Panel lines with some HU67Tank Grey. I then gave it another coat of HU106. I then added some light blue to the mix and sprayed a few panels. I then sprayed a few more with some darker blue added to the HU 106.

I did this without allowing any drying time. I thought if the colours haven't dried they may blend a little to soften the effect.

It didn't work too bad but we'll see what it' like once I've added the green....

Great paint job FZ6, seems like your technique is a winner.

Thanks Disorder.

I managed to mask and paint the green last night using the same technique.

I used HU163 Dark Green as the base green. I then oversprayed the panel lines with black. After this I mixed in some HU159 Khaki drab. The last mix was a patchy coat of HU163 mixed with some HU117 US Light Green.

I was then excited about removing the masking to see what the scheme looked like and I'm pleased with the results but I did get some overspray on the model in places. I'll leave the canopy glazing masking on until the model has been given a gloss coat.

Next job is the gloss varnish
