I've actually considered doing a twin tail Beaufighter. It would be more of a Plasticard job than balsa. Would that be okay?

He peebeep,

I would attempt the Lancaster to a Manchester, or the Avro York. Was the Sunderland to a Sandringham one of his ?

I remember an article in one of the Airfix magazine annuals which involved making a Bristol Brigand with crash formed fuselage, and tail and wings kitbashed from various other kits (wings involved Bristol Superfreighter and Heinkel He111 I think) - was this one of Alan's?

I'd love to give that a go one day. Looks hardcore!

I don't believe it was, although I do recall another Sunderland cinversion that was authored by Alan Hall. I will be compiling a list of as many of the articles that I can lay my hands on.

I wouldn't mind having a go at the Spitfire MkIX to PRXI as I have JE*J stashed away somewhere and the conversion doesn't sound too involved.

If the Sunderland conversion was to a MkI or MkII I'd certainly like to give it a go.

I've posted on UAMF and will post the same here - are peeps still up for this or has the idea run out of steam? I'm going to make an announcement on Britmodeller with a view to getting this underway some time next week. Is there anybody here interested enough to run it on this forum?

I'd say we're up for it, let me know the dates and I can set up the necessary groups.

Still interested,
My first choice would be the Airfix Catalina PBY-5 to a Danish PBY6, I have a copy of the article.

I was thinking that myself, is the conversion  based on the old FGA6 or will the new FGA9 suffice?

Hi Peter

The T7 is based on the FG9 frame - with the bump over the exhaust IIRC

The P-40 to P-36 looks interesting (and is one of the few kits in the list that I own at the moment). What's the plan - do we have to do the conversion exactly as set down in the mag? In which case, would it be possible to get a copy/scan of the article from someone?

The idea is to follow Alan Hall's conversions as closely as is practicable. I will be trying to make the articles available as and when people request them.
