Half-Full or Half Empty?

Work started with the primed up Fw.190 this evening...

With a bit of filler here and there, once it was dry it was duly sanded off...

And work ended with a freshly primed Fw.190...

Spot the difference Airhead

Thanks Dan

And this is where we are up to this evening - I had a bit of an experiment with preshading. The lines came out a bit thick as I was having the problem I normally have with my airbrush - the inability to spray at a fine setting for a long time without having to adjust the position of the needle.

The preshading was only done to try and give a bit of texture to the upper surfaces as they are quite large and flat. I've only done the top sides as the undersides will be black. I have also sanded down and smoothed out the joins in the fuel tank and this has been fitted to the bottom of the plane. The wheels have also been started, although these are only loose on the plane and can be removed still.

Looks great Owen, you can always cover that up with the next coat. I was going to preshading mine but I bottled out

The fuselage sides are sprayed up in a H65/H28 mix now, the mix was quite thick so one coat is enough from the look of it. Not much of the preshading shows through, but that's not a biggy

No that's the 'I picked it up by the wing and the seam decided to split' firing variant!

I've masked up the H65/28 coat, and sprayed up some H27 on the upper surfaces earlier. I would have a picture, but the camera is still in the shed.

Here we go, a few pictures!

This is pre-spraying, with blue-tak and Tamiya/Kamoi tape being used to mask up the fuselage.

And with a coat of H27 now on, this time with a bit of the shading showing through which looks quite nice. Unfortunately that wretched glass armament seems to have got stuck on the pylon again!

More work, slowly trundling along with this one. H32 now sprayed and masking removed. Next step is to mask the uppersurfaces and spray H33 or H85 (Might go with H85 as the Satin finish won't scratch so easily).

Cheers,
Owen

Cheers HT

I've had to put this on the back burner recently, because I've been building my layout so the room's been full of ply and timber - but I got a spray in last night and gave it a coat of H85

I'll peel back the masking tonight Nailbiting

Cheers,
Owen
