Well. I am rather taken by the BF 109. However after a serious parting of the ways with my airbrush which resulted in it being hard pushed to suck even air!. So I am going to get a new one in the next week or two and then I should be able to make a start _________________ Cheers

Right. I have made a start but before then here are the box and sprues. I am sorry but I have lost the photo with the other half of the sprue shots but I think Ratch and ColinM have convered them in their builds (which I am using for reference, hope you dont mind )
It contains the new brown paper decals, and quite a lot of the pieces were of the sprues

I have made a start and completed the engine (just a few bits to touch up) and painted "Pipps" in white from a tip I picked up from MacTeagle. I have also started putting the cockpit together
And the pilot

You're off to a good start there Daniel!
i tried building one of these years ago, when I was 13 I think. I never got it finished and I don't know what happened to it (filling a hole in the ground somewhere probably). I have no doubt you will get on better than I did! _________________ Airfix Club member |

Thanks Mac. I'll do my best but I'm not sure how good it will be. All the pieces are a little intimidating _________________ Cheers

Good luck with the build, watch out for the wonky undercarriage.

Right. I have been quite busy today. The cockpit has been started, half of it is complete. I had a bit of an accident with the pilot, I had just finshed him and he looked great; the only problem is that I realised I had painted him as an RAF Pilot with the RAF blue uniform. I have rectified this gone over with the uniform grey (but it has made it darker than I would have liked, but it will have to do). I have finished the engine and am going to make a start on the machine guns tomorrow
Pictures tomorrow _________________ Cheers

Sorry for the lack of pics I have been forgetting to take them as I go along. I had a bit of a disaster I couldn't get the fuselage to close properly with the engine and after two and a half hours of trying I managed to snap the right fuselage in half. This actually helped because I could close it up but it left a small gap in the side of the fuselage which i filled with a mix of poly cement and shavings of sprue to make a paste. I think it has worked quite well but it will need some filling. Sarting on the instument panel an the machine guns today.
Hopefully pics to follow later _________________ Cheers

Thanks Guys, I have managed to repair it ok, with a bit of filler it should be fine. I have found that because it was broken I had to cement the fuselage together earlier than recommended so It has make getting the control panel in place a bit more difficult.
Seeing the problems with the gear colapsing I have filled it with plent of poly cement and superglue and hoping it will be secure enough _________________ Cheers

I have been plugging away with this. Unfortunately I have mislayed my memory card with the photos taken with the progress.
I have finished the sanding and have started the painting. I have sprayed the cowling and rudder in Hu24.
Pictures later _________________ Cheers

All the painting is finished. I have been taking pictures as I go and will post them tommorow.
Quick question. I have got some mirosol an microset. But I have heard that it wrinkes up decals. So will I be able to use these on those really small decals that have the writing things such as the security information or would it wrinkle them up and ruin them
(hope that isn't too confusing) _________________ Cheers
