Coming along nicely, always good to get the fuselage together - it starts to look like an aeroplane at that point.

Thanks for all the kind words.
Wings attached:
So far so good. A bit of minor filling and sanding required on the wing-fuselage joint.

Ayup Stukaman... I'm building the SMER issue of this kit. What colour did you use for the cockpit? _________________ "Is there anything you else you need to win the battle?" "Jawohl, Herr Reichsmarshall- Give me a squadron of Spitfires!" |

Hi Jamesy,
The instructions call for H27 (Sea Grey), which I couldn't find the Model Master equivalent to.
I was positive the correct interior color should have been a Green-Grey color. This was based on my memory of one pic I had seen, thou I cannot recall where & when, I saw this pic, if indeed it existed at all.
So I mixed Panzer Grey with Euro Dark Green and got the exact color I was after. It's just a pity every MiG17 interior pic I've seen since is a Grey-blue color.
hmmm I probably haven't been much help to you have I?

NOOOOOO!
I have a tail sitter!
Thought I had put in enough lead sinkers, but obviously not.
Looks like I'll have to squeeze more lead in the front wheel bay.
Not a happy boy today. _________________ Our technology is compatiable; although your design is less elegant. |

The current state:
wheels added, partially armed, painted
I didn't have much problems with brushing the silver paint & I was wondering what all the fuss was about. hmmmm maybe I'm just the 'Silver Paint King'.
Then I tried applying a second coat.
I quickly decided it looks good enough with a single coat of paint. _________________ Our technology is compatiable; although your design is less elegant. |

Looking good! Did you undercoat the model or paint the silver directly onto bare plastic? _________________ "It's life Jim, but not as we know it!" - Dr McCoy

thanks Badwolf.
No undercoat, I painted directly onto the plastic. I found the silver adhered better than the primer I had. _________________ Our technology is compatiable; although your design is less elegant. |

Very good indeed - I added a pilot sitting on a piece of lead as well as putting some in the nose. I see you sorted out the 2 tails - I didn't know why but it's now obvious they're different. Just out of interest - what scale is written at the top of your instructions? Mine said it was 1/24! _________________ the evolution of the modern car is such it now ressembles a toaster. |
