Great idea of the weekly feature Brian - how on earth do you go about choosing just one with the wealth of lovely Airfix kits available?

I'm intrigued by your first choice as I like German WWII subjects and the Hs.126 is not particularly over represented in kit form (and I hadn't actually realised the Airfix Hs.126 was that hard to come by these days).

I've only ever built the Matchbox one (see below). I notice Brews says the Airfix one is better though so now I feel compelled to buy one to compare the two.

Can't wait to see what next weeks kit will be.

This is a great idea Brian and a good choice of kit too

I have a couple of these in my stash one was picked up at the Biggin Hill air show a couple of years ago for around £3 and the other from kingKit for £4.99, they still have it listed at that price incidentally.

This is a great candidate for re-release being a very nicely detailed kit. As mentioned by Brews it would be good to see a few alternative decal schemes, North Africa etc.

Anyone fancy a reccon aircraft Group Build

Good idea this as it is great to see what was presented with some of these old kits. Although I had seen the kit before I did not realise it had a figure with a camera as the observer - very interesting. Was this the only kit to include this particular figure?

Here's a picture (sent by Wildesau) of the Hs126 in it's white scheme, on a white box. That's really eyecatching -not!

Here is the AIRFIX Hs126 I built when the kit was first released (?1978). A bit dusty now, hand painted cockpit canopy lines!, varnish has gone a little yellow on the underside of the wings, injector pin marks are still visible on the tailplane underside, the tailplanes are fitted as per kit and appear to have a slight sweepback, the underwing centre struts are badly painted, the main undercarriage legs have heat sink marks, etc. But then it has a pretty well detailed cockpit, very fine observer's machine gun, details bomb rack with bomb which has a small propeller on the front end, and neat side fuselage decals showing dive bombing angles.
I do hope that AIRFIX will re-release this one since it is a good kit even now some thirty years on from first issue.

They are to allow the pilot or observer to estimate angles of view from the aircraft to the ground.
