I have attached two photo's of the Airfix tower with the slight mod of the removal of the lower front section. This is how i believe it could be improved just by this little mod. This was based on the Watch office at Bardney in Lincs, not so far away from me.

No railings on the front balcony because this will not be part of the extension, (see Dec 7th).

Just playing with the idea that the extension would probably look as good on the back as on the front. Still intend to have it on the front but thought i would show the possibilities.

I still have to put the glazing in on the extn. and the rail around the flatroof, also will have to scratch-build some steps.

Two shots of the rear aspect.

I think having the same window style on the extension does add something to its appearance.

NOt sure what you mean but the multi-storey is just a mock-up to give you an idea what you could do to further the potential for this kit.

I would usually agree with you Ratch but i know at GY they opened out and the attached photo, i think its Thorpes Abbott, shows it too opening out.
I guess the rule of thumb was 'local mod'.

Its all finnished but as i write, it chuckin it down with rain and as i like to photograph outside it will probably be Monday now before postin pics.
I have completed a number of RAF 'bods' that are on the tower to make it look something rather than 'just' a building.

I'm guessing, but wearing my building designers hat I can tell you that it is preferable to have outward opening doors to facilitate rapid evacuation. Having said that a lot would depend on where the door is located and the purpose of the space it is serving.

I have made a start on the next project,  the joining of two Control Towers ..................
This building could be loosely based on Grafton Underwood or Grimsby or even Skellingthorpe.

I have done as previous with the front section of the original building and cut them off. Top of the photo.   Again as with the first build i have taken off 2mm from the bottom front sections to bring it down to the same height as the rear, as seen in the photo ; bottom left.
I have also blanked off those window that i will not be having on the finnished build; one door will suffice.   Two small windows on the front were taken from the discarded front lower section of original building.
( Other than Humbrol model filler, anybody suggest another 'paste' to over lay on the blank windows cos they ain't quite flush ?? )
The ends of this build will each have small extn's attached and so the windows and door will be thrown spare to be utilised.
