Having looked at my options I have decided to go with a long-term stash resident Lynx HAS3 that I bought in 1991. I'm sure I saw the crew blink when I took the lid off the box.

This will be my first helicopter for a while so I'm looking forward to it.

Thought I'd post some pics of the Lynx I'll be building.

Here are the box and decals,

instructions

and a view of the sprues.

Just over two months to go!

I thought it was about time I posted some pics of my progress so far.

The interior has been completed apart from the crew and I've assembled and painted the main rotor.

I did a bit of a dry fit of the fuselage to show the rotor as it looked a bit lost in a pic of its own.

The crew are on board, I've joined the fuselage halves together and fitted the nose.

Now it's time for a bit of filler and some rubbing down.

A bit more progress to report. After filling and rubbing down I've added the cockpit sides and roof.

After a bit more filling and rubbing down I'll be ready for the paint.

If slightly out of focus. I should get it painted over the weekend with a bit of luck but probably won't make the deadline (again).

Over the weekend there has been more filling & sanding. The windscreen had a large gap along the bottom which needed filling but has turned out quite well. I've applied the first coat of Medium Sea Grey and this is how it looks at the moment.

Another coat of MSG then on to the Klear and decals.

After a couple of coats of Klear I spent part of yesterday evening applying the decals.

It should be finished soon, just rotors, aerials, wheels & torpedoes to go.

A couple of weeks late, but here it is, my first helicopter since 1994.

I wasn't sure what colour to use for the windows in the cockpit roof so I gave them a couple of coats of clear green. The stripes on the tail rotor were painted by hand as I thought the decal might not fit too well.
