Nice Job Roger    I used Techmod decals for my build instead of the Kits but unfortunately some of mine broke apart in the water after 10secs or so. For the ones that survived copious amounts of decal fix were used to get them to stick.

Ayup 923...

Sorry, Missed your reply.

Yes, there are some awful films from the thirties and forties and fifties, but they show some truly excellent footage of contemporary US Fighting Forces and their equipment. I believe that as long as the filmmakers showed the services in a favourable light, there was access to men and Materiel.

Final fitting out has taken place and I have now finished.

A little detailing was done in that navigation lights were made from sprue as was a pitot tube and all were fitted on the leading edges of the wings.

The pimple on the port wing ( a crude depiction of a landing light) was removed and a replacement, again from sprue, was fitted in the correct position.   An aerial wire from Aeroclub lycra was then fitted and finally the two small windows over the wing roots were glazed with a drop of PVA which dried clear.

The wing walks were carefully matt varnished and the red fuel filler caps were depicted with a drop of red paint by using a cocktail stick with the point removed.   An oil filler cap just in front of the cockpit was marked by the same method.

Note the position of the various details.

Close up of cockpit showing position of landing light and oil filler cap.

Now, should I do another one before the Group Build ends?
