Does a Sparrowhawk landing right at my feet count?  Think

I was out walking Marbles and one took some prey (a chick I think) in a small thicket, coming to rest not more than four feet away.....I haven't seen a Sparrowhawk in this area for donkey's years so it does show that our local countryside is becoming healthier!

For what it's worth, all the best

Ayup Sarge...

I had a small VOLE presented me  in the Kitchen this morning by the cats. (possibly off Polly-she was soaked ! not good for a long-haired Persian)

It was so fresh, it was still soft and warm... Yuk !

Saw what appeared to be a Dutch Navy Lynx fly over twice once on way in appeared to land at Lydd Airport and then saw it on it's way home back out over the channel.  Also saw a Mitchell tow this evening flying north, quite high but still very noisey, lovely sound.

All the best

A Hurribomber has just done a display over the airfield and put in for some fuel.  It's from the Hanger 11 collection.  Got some photos of it and then noticed a Demon in the hanger walking back.

Four jets in a diamond formation, probably Harriers. No doubt for the Duchess of Cornwall's dedication of service personnel in Portsmouth

Three mustangs and a spitfire took off from Lydd Airport flew round then off somewhere  came back sometime later tailed by a helicopter that looked very sleek and was not hanging around possibly filming them, looked very impressive.  They landed again and took of sometime later, what a lovely sound hearing them on their take off run.

All the best

Can't see them because of the trees but there is a lot of movement of legends heading East to Duxford, doing low passes over RAF Henlow.  Merlin's et al, filling the air.

Just moments ago while at the computer, I suddenly heard a jet coming over the house --- low down.  Unusual for around here because we're off the regular flight paths but they sounded military.  I dashed outside to see if I could spot them but they had already gone out of view.  I called the nearest airport to me (Red Deer Regional [in Alberta]) and they said they hadn't had anything so I called Calgary Internaional (100 miles south south west of us) to ask if they knew anything, turns out it was a couple of CAF CF-18's which had over-nighted in Calgary and were returning to Cold Lake in the north.

A Catalina has just gone past heading back to Duxford.

Last Thurs, the Demon went up for a couple of circuits.  As my nieghbour put it, that Tiger Moth sounds a little over powered!

Wasnt over my house, but on tuesday, I was driving past Yeovilton on the A303 and I was treated to a full blown display by the Sea Vixen.
Had to pull into a layby and sit back and enjoy the sight (and sound!)

aka AEAF recognition stripes, I believe, although from the ground they looked like invasion stripes to me, tbh.

As to what kind of Spitfire - I'm not that brave/foolish but it was painted blue!
