Got my CLUB kits a week ago.  I was so taken with the decals that I decided there and then to build the Wildcat VI for this group build.
Here is the progress since last Monday
The kit parts were soon prepared

[Model was soon assembled. No problems encountered.

Here is the underside which required some fillers along the join line.

Some of the smaller parts prepared and painted.

The model today after painting and decals applied.
The Cartograph decals are really EXCELLENT. One can only hope that they will feature in all the new kits for 2009?

Most of this morning was used to apply the small thin strips of painted decals for the canopy frames. A time consuming exercise but well worth the effort. Hope you'll agree?
Next jobs are the attachments of several smaller parts and the undercarriage.
Keep looking in!
Best Ron.

Completed at last!
Rather a nice kit with plenty of detail and excellent decals.
Here are a selection of shots.

The little aerial mast on top of the fin is extremely fragile - already I have knocked it off twice in this photo session! I did leave it off during construction
The rockets are only a faint representation of the real thing - photos I have of Martlets/Wildcats with rockets show an under wing plate to which are attached three rails for the rockets.  Certainly the rockets did not just slot into the wing as on this kit!
Also one of my references states that Wildcat Mk VIs never launched rockets in anger. The undercarriage is rather basic but is sturdy, the tail wheel mount is too long. So it's not all totally accurate.
However rest assured that it is most definitely a worthwhile build.
Thanks for looking in. This Group Build seems extremely popular with well over twenty participants. I am sure that many fine models will result from it.
Ron.

Ayup Ron...

A masterclass of modelling.

I love the last shot of it on its wheels. brilliant.

And yes, this GB is quite popular. over thirty ron. And a privelige to lead it too.

A fine job on this punchy little fighter.  Those decals really do look very good. Having seen this great little model, I feel a restoration project coming on.
