It's been a while since we've had a Civil Aircraft group build.

Whilst visiting Brooklands on the JBO before Christmas, we went on board their Concorde.  We discussed how it might be a nice subject for a GB, so I thought we'd have a vote to see if there'd be any interest.

If it was chosen, it could be built in either 1/144, or for any very brave souls, in 1/72!

This poll will run for 14 days.

Not for me this time.

I do have the 1/72 Airfix version in my stash but bought it without thinking how big it would be!!
I don't have enough space to build or display it until I get better and move out of my mum's.

I do like Concorde and if my stash wasn't so big I might have been tempted into one of the few areas I don't normally build (I think I last did a Comet when I was about 10  Silence ) but as it is, I'll just sit this one out

Beautiful though she is, she is also well outside my modelling comfort zone, not to mention way too big!

All the best

Not for me this time unfortunately

Although she is a stunning aircraft, I have already built one and dont really have the space at the minute. Also the fact of all that white frightens me

Yup, definately in with this. I have all three Airfix Concordes.

I would probably start with the Prototype with a set of 'G-BSST'  F-Dcal decals I bought from Telford in 2007. It would then be a bit like the one at Yeovilton.

Then I might do the usual 1.144 one.

I forgot to say that I do hope that this GB will proceed and I greatly look forward to seeing our members' renditions of this beautiful aircraft.

All the best

If I was ever to make a Concorde, it would be a “what if”.
Converted to a RAF bomber or spy plane.

And I know it would be regarded as a sacrilegious exploit.

So, no GB for me this time.

All the best from Jesper.

I have a 1/72 and a 1/144 waiting to be built, happy to join in with either or both.

I will be asking for a supply of the magic white paint that Paula and Dan use though!

Hi Jesper

Nothing wrong with making a 'what if' of a Concorde.

I for one would be very interested to see your interpretation of this fine aircraft.

Best

Colin

Thanks ColinM.
I think I’ll pass.
I don’t have either a 1/144 or 1/72 model, or space to display it anyway.

Jesper.

It isn't really witchcraft, Colin, honest! It's Revell Number 4 gloss white pre-mixed for the airbrush - and it's great stuff! 3 coats of the stuff and the job's a good 'un. Add 2 coats of Klear and you're all set.

We're debating joining in with this one. The only Concorde in our stash is the 1/72 one and the worry is that the ususal 2 months just isn't enough time to get it done...

I'd like to do the 1/72 Concorde that I have in the stash, but as Dan's said above, if this could be a 3 month GB, it might give us time to make it to a good standard before the deadline.

I've voted for yes, but in 3-6 months.

Doesn't matter if you don't make the end date though - it will just roll over into GB Plus.  It would be brilliant to see the 1/72 version being built.

Alternatively, you could always buy a 1/144th one...

I bought a Revell Concorde from Marks & Spencer just before Christmas so I'm not sure if I'd want another one. If I did I suppose I could build it as a high speed RAF VIP transport, or maybe The Queen's Flight.

That's an interesting idea - could maybe do it in the same colours as the DH Rapide!  Would look lovely in red, white & blue!

Forgot how big it is , did a dry fitting ...its huge !!
Seemed to go together ok yet Ive heard of horror stories.
Might be tempted to do it as my first GB...what a baptism of fire

Not really  Off Topic  jesper - to be honest I wouldn't even think of trying to do the 1/72 Concorde with an old fashioned hairy brush. The areas are just too big to cover any way other than with some form of spray - though it wouldn't have to be an airbrush. A good rattle can of spray paint from a car body workshop is just as good. BAC uses Vauxhall (Opel!) Glacier White for example.
