Thanks for the kind comments chaps, I hope to get more done over the Easter break.

Yes it is from the Long Range Desert Group kit, I have some spares of this base so if you would like one send a PM. The Matchbox bases do come in handy now and then.
Cheers

As you can see from the following pictures I have done a bit of work on the diorama base although I have now decided to carry on with that part of the build over in the diorama section and to concentrate on finishing the Saladin here.
I have been unable to locate any decent crew figures so have decided to finish this off with all hatches closed down, I did however add a .30 cal machine gun from the Airfix/Heller Jeep kit. This is much nicer than the one supplied although the gun mount is probably incorrect .
Next up the detail painting was carried out, picking out all of the small details like fire extinguishers and pioneer tools.
Here I have added a couple of Long Range Desert Group decals taken from the Revell chevrolet Kit
General dirtying down and weathering was also carried out using a very thin wash and a little dry brushing.
Finally my old favourites, a couple of coats of matt varnish and a dusting of crushed pastels (two different shades on this one) were added to finish it off. There are a couple of aerials to add but they will probably snap off so I will leave them off for now.
It is nice to see the ex-JB kits on the market under the Airfix banner, they are fairly simple builds and ideal for beginers or those trying out military vehicles for the first time. I have enjoyed building this kit, although I do not usually build post war equipment it has been fun trying out a 'what if' paint scheme and as mentioned above I will continue with the base over in the diorama section.
Thanks to Spudgun for doing such a splendid job leading the build, it has been great to see so many participants and the great variety of kits built .
Cheers

Better off without the aerials in my experience, they are the diameter of reasonable size trees But it does look like it needs the sand channel adding.

Nice build Stu. Chunky little beast isn't it?

I've used 5A fuse wire or a single strand from a multicore before which looks imho. What would you advise?
Aye

Thanks for the kind comments chaps, quite agree about the sand channel David but was not too impressed with the one in the kit.
