I think it will be a Mosquito for me too. I have one in a VE Day set that'll do the trick.
Is anyone planing on tackling an Axis nightfighter and what would the options be? _________________ Airfix Club member |

The Bf 110 would fail into the possibilities _________________ Airfix Club 500006 |

Bf109
Bf110
Fw190
Ju88
Fw189
Do217
From the above list only the Do217 has ever been issued with optional parts to build a nightfighter version, the rest will require converting. The '110 and '88 would be trickiest, whereas the '109 and '190 are paint jobs apart from minor alterations. The '189 would require some radar aerials and schrage musik cannon. I'd be inclined to wait for the new '109 kit to be issued rather than work with the old one.

Yes, thanks guys for the information. I have a 109, but I have no clue about how to make or buy the custom decals to make it a nightfighter. If I can't figure something out at least I have the mossie ready to go. _________________ Airfix Club member |

If you find a scheme you like the look of I'd be quite happy to run up some artwork for you. You get to print it yourself, though!

Cheers peebeep. I've done a bit of searching on the internet and I've found that Hasegawa produce a 1/32 scale BF109E night-fighter. They have a plain black scheme. Here's a review with the completed model:

I like the look of that. _________________ Airfix Club member |

I'm tempted to do a Fw189 as I have one in the stash but I'm not sure about the colour schemes or where I'd get the markings from. _________________ So many kits, so little time |

There is one other ... The Me 262B-1a/U1 (or Me 262B-2a)
Didn't Airfix release the Ta 154 (or am I getting ahead of myself)? _________________ “The farther backward you can look, the farther forward you are likely to see.” Winston Churchill |

That is a possibility, although I doubt many would fancy taking it own. How's yours shaping up?

Good thinking, it's out now with the Fw 190 as a Mistel package.

Those Owl decals are available from Hannants. But I'd like mine before the group build finishes so I'm hesitating at placing the order for the 1/72 scale BF109 set. _________________ Airfix Club member |

I may be tempted to put a solid nose on Ju88. I've got plenty of balsa kicking about. _________________ Bubbly! |

just joined this GB, I‘m going to do the Dornier Do217 J-1 NjG1...might try and find a tin of matt black spray paint for this rather than my usual paintbrush job |

We have a canopy, but I'll try for a better one if I have time (which I should). Working hard at finishing a FROG 1:96 Lanc by the end of the month, with the difficulty being that I'm on vacation in Florida at the moment. Status pics of the Me 262B-2a follow FYI:

BTW, I don't know what I'll do exactly - maybe a BP Defiant, Sopwith Camel, Avro 504, Spitfire, Hurricane, Beaufighter, Mosquito (either NFII, NFXIX or FBVI), Havoc, P-61 (big possibility) ... maybe something German, but probably not. I might stick my neck out now and say I'll do a Black Widow. _________________ “The farther backward you can look, the farther forward you are likely to see.” Winston Churchill |

Since you've got so much balsa, why don't you tack a little onto the tail and make a Ju 88G? Thinking ... did they have extended wingtips like the 188, too? |

| I have two of these kits. It looks like the non-extended wingtips are the go, which makes it easier. The flame dampers would be easy enough to make out of a plastic drinking straw or similar. |
